I’m looking for scope suggestions. So far I’ve narrowed it down to a Burris mini (compact) or leupold m8. What’s everyone using? I’m mainly trying to keep it a small, handy carbine.

Leupold 1-4 or straight 4x

Mine wear the Burris 4x Minis and Weaver 1-3x.

My hornet wears a Burris 3-9 Fullfield. A little big but not too bad.

The Burris mini is a good fit on a T/C carbine. I've run 4x, 6x and 2-7x on my .30-30 carbine. Here are some pics of a gloss 6x. I currently run it with a silver 2-7x. They make a 3-9 mini, but your field of view at 9x will be limited.

I have 2-7 Burris scopes on most of my TC carbines.

Burris 3-10×40mm signature select. I like the 10x on the top end

Been a while. If I remember right, the first .17 Remington (21" factory barrel) had a Leupold 2.5-8X Vari X III. I had a Weaver K2.5 on the 16-1/4" .32 H&R mag barrel. On the 20" .357 maxi barrel .. not sure, think it might have been a Leupold 2-7X RF special.

I also had a 24" bull barrel in .17 Remington but I have no recollection of what scope I had on it, might have been a 6.5-20X but that's only a guess. For a while, since it was a handgun frame, I put the pistol grip on it and used a Simmons 2-7X gold medal pistol scope. Kinda goofy looking but it shot well, especially with a bipod attached about 20" down the barrel.

Dad had a Redfield 3-9x on his .256 win. Custom shop heavy bbl, it was a pig.

Burris WERE popular with T/C shooters. Burris had a big selection of pistol and compact scopes that fit just right. My current 30/40 Krag Carbine has a 3 MOA Leupold 4X ,all the pistols now have Leupolds too.

Leupold 4X Compact is my favorite

Just bought a low wall that came with a Burris 2-7 mini.

My first thought was to sell it but after playing with it a bit, I really like it.

Good glass, easy to get behind with lots of eye relief, and a nice compact set up.
If it can hold zero, it'll be a winner.

Possibly the biggest challenge to scoping a Contender carbine is eye relief. Get the longest base you can find. Might be worth picking up a 6-hole base and having the 2 front holes drilled.

Nice set up with the can, DigitalDan. What caliber?
DD is that the cool little 22 caliber you worked up? Be well, RZ.

I have a 2x7 Burris fullfield 2 on my 30-30 bbl. 3x9 Weaver on the 223 barrel.
