Does anyone here have a great Ruger#1 Gunsmith? My Gunsmith retired and he was a Ruger #1 specialist.

He built a M70 for me but is also well renown in the #1 community for excellent work.

Or Jkob above ... I have not used him but he has an impeccable reputation on multiple hunting boards.

I’ve used Jim Kobe on a number of custom built rifles. The work was excellent in every case.

Timely thread for me....I have a No 1 in 375 Belted Rimless that I want to convert to 375 Flanged Magnum N.E.

@jkob...is this something you could tackle? Issues with rib after setting the barrel back?

Joel...hope this is close enough to the spirit of the thread to not qualify as too bad a hijack!!! smile

I had a 458win mag no1. I wanted a 45/70. So a gunsmith
Took the barrel off and cut the breech end off til
He had enough for a 45/70 and redid the extractor. Works great

We sold a Ruger M77 .458 Win Mag to a local guy that was like 5'6" and weighed about a buck 30!
He deer hunted with it!!!!
He just downloaded .458 Win Mag to .45-70 Gov't levels. No rebarrel necessary!
