For anyone curious as to what a fresh C Sharps ‘85 looks like these days here’s a nice example.
It took a while but well worth the wait in my opinion.
My first foray in to this kind of thing, it was a neat process having a rifle build to specs.
This one has a 26”, #2 weight barrel chambered in .30-30, relatively simple and trim. Should be plenty comfortable to carry afield.
I have a Shiloh 1874 in .45-70 in process as well, and am excited to have examples from both Montana sharps companies.

Agreed, I’m pretty darned impressed. These rifles are relatively expensive, but when you think about the quality of materials, workmanship, personalization, and what you’re getting for your money it’s kinda amazing really.

Nice gun and in a great caliber for that design IMO.

What was your lead time?

I've asked C. Sharps (and Ballard) if they would make a Low Wall .30-30, and the answer was no in both cases. The Miroku Browning/Winchester Low Walls are available in modern, high pressure cartridges - .243, .260, etc. and should be strong enough for a .30-30, but apparently no one else agrees with me! People have made them in the High Wall.

I had one just like that with a #3 barrel in .30-40. Was very accurate and easy to shoot. For reasons unknown, I sent it to Danny Peterson and it's now a .50-110 WCF.

I want one. .30-30 or .30-40 would seriously scratch an itch for me.
