Hello all!
I think I have learned to post pictures on this forum today. I'm kind of excited to show my #1 in 30-30. I don't think the pictures will do it justice but we'll see. I added a few single shots in the past year. This is the prettiest I think. I bought a #1 also in 38-55. It is quite a bit heavier than this one.

That's a beauty! I still haven't figured out the picture posting.

Gunns,
If I can do it you can. I used Postimage. There is a step-by-step totorial here somewhere.
Take care!
Rick

She sure is a looker, and chambered for a cartridge I've been wanting in a Ruger 1A. Congrats!

That’s a nice one. Or I was going to buy one it would be a 30/30.

When was that one made? Very pretty wood.

Here's the instructions that I posted to help someone else: https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...097165/re-picture-test-help#Post18097165

I like your Ruger #1! I own four so I'm a fan. It's funny though how a person can develop biases for no good logical reason. Based on my particular childhood, I will forever and always associate the 30-30 round with a Marlin 336. Like Forrest Gump said, they go together like peas & carrots. This is kind of stupid because I also think any classic rimmed cartridge is an excellent choice for a falling block. It's just weird how my brain keeps saying "Great round! But it's in the wrong gun..." when it's actually an excellent combination.

I’m not sure of the manufacture date. I’ve owned it about a year. I know my 38-55 is 1/281 and I suspect this one to be somewhat rare also but don’t know how many were made.
Thanks everyone for the compliments,
Rick

Congrats! I think that is the first .30-30 I've seen with nice wood smile

I had two in 30/30, one stainless/walnut that I still have, and a blued/walnut that a friend had to have. You hit the jackpot with that beautiful stock!
I’ve not shot mine yet, but will soon. Mine has a little rattle - looseness in the lever. Might send back to Ruger for refitting. I’ve had a couple dozen No.1 rifles and none had as much play in the lever as this one. 🙄

I also have one of the stainless/walnut 30-30 No. 1A models and mine also has some play in the lever. It shoots just fine, but the looseness in the lever is a bit of an irritation. I have a similar number of No. 1 rifles and like your experience, this is the first with that particular characteristic. Let us know what Ruger says if you contact them.

I have it figured out! Send it to a campfire friend who has figured it out...that is how I do it, if I need to post it bad enough... smile

To the OP...

Love your rifle... its a beauty.. NOT really a Number 1 kind of guy... but If I were to take the jump.. a 30/30 would be it...
Or a 308, that I would load to 30/30 velocities... many times 30/30 velocities is all one really needs... I load a lot of my rifles use during hunting season to 30/30 velocities, what ever the caliber may be...

I've even loaded 300 Win Mags, to 30/30 speeds using Unique, or Blue Dot.. usually when grandpa has given his 12 yr old grandson his tried and trusty 300 Win Mag, after getting too old to hunt anymore..

Lever rattle: I called Ruger a year ago and they sent me a shipping label…. I have just procrastinated sending it back. It is irritating and I’ve imagined it alarming a deer.

No.1 in 30/30: I heard this more than once- “Why would you spend over $1K for a 30/30 when it’s available in more powerful cartridges like 300 win mag for the same price?”
I guess I’m just an oddball !

It went to live with a good friend, in exchange for his S&W 296.
