Got myself a Savage 219 in 30-30 with full length stock. Put a Leupold 3X on it for a scope. Can't wait to try her out.
Ain't much, but looks like it will be fun to shoot.

They handle very well, and I'm told they have good barrels given the low cost of the gun, but it's hard to mount either a scope or receiver sight on one without drilling holes in them.

This one has the grooves on top and will try that first, but it has been d/t'd. Just need to find a three hole base for it. If not, open sights it will be.

Nice looking rig! bet its a shooter, and you cant go wrong with a 30-30.

The grooves on the one I had couldn't keep the scope & rings from slipping under recoil w/o a stop screw I installed in the top of the bbl.

You might want to put a scope mount screw in one o the holes, with it's head proud enough for one of the scope ring bottoms to bear against it, for recoil support, if you go that way.

219s are often very good shooters. Somebody was happy enough with that one to fancy it up some, so maybe it is a gem! Frank de Haas has a chapter in one of his books on "what you can do with a 219."

One thing you can definitely do with a .30-30 219 is handload it with all kinds of bullets from .32 ACP to big ole 180 gr. .30-06 bullets. I've never tried the Winchester 60 gr. Silvertip .32 ACP hollow point bullets in one, but if they don't disintegrate in flight they should be very destructive on varmints! I KNOW that Speer 100 gr. "Plinkers" are if you drive them fast enough. They shoot hard cast bullets very well, too.

There is a metamorphosis evident here, that gun is not referred to as a Savage, but "Su-vaj" with a fairly silent "J". I don't believe I have ever seen one of those, looks kinda' classy...

I have a model 220 20 gauge that still comes out with me every late grouse/hare season when there is a lot of carrying and less shooting involved. I have often wished I had a rifle version. The one you have is outstanding looking.

No idea who did the work, but they did a nice job on the wood. I have a feeling this might get carried alot. The only down side to this stock is that it would slow down possible barrel changing. Can still do it, just takes longer. Thanks.

I have a .25-20 with a spare .410 barrel. Fun.

I think the 220s are the best single shot shotgun ever made for hunting in the US (don't count high $$ single barrel trapguns). And I LOVE the Winchester Model 37!

The under-appreciated and usually economy priced Lefever M2 Long Range Trap and Field would give the 220 a good run. It also is hammerless with a tang safety. Because the weight is almost entirely between the hands, it is a pretty lively gun. I have had the M37, M220 and M2. They are all the best single shot shotgun ever made in the USA for hunting.

Really nice, love the full stock. The 219s are great little rifles, fortunete to own 2. A restocked 30-30 in cherry with a Williams Guide Peep and fiber optic front sight. Very quick sight aquasition, old eyes don't see open sights that well. The 2nd is a .22 Hornet rechambered to K Hornet with a scope, great litttle varmit rifle.

Yeah, Carbon, I always forget about the Lefever Long Range (actually made by Ithaca). It's pretty close to the 220 in "controls" and layout. But I've only had one, years ago, in .410, so don't know much about how the bigger ones handle. Scarce guns now!
