I have a older friend that wants me to sell this rifle for him so I have no idea what to set a price at. Blue is fantastic and has been in a closet for years, except him wiping it off ever so often. Has five or six minor little dings where he has bumped it or had a ring on. Someone help Please!!!!! Date code says 1975 if I read it right.

The B78s are slightly less desirable than the later 1885s because the trigger was improved on the newer ones.

I would guess $1000 would be a good starting point, but suggest you check comparables on Gunbroker; actual bids and selling prices, not asking prices. A lot depends on how you plan to sell it. Listing it online and willing to be a little patient will likely yield the greatest return, but can be a hassle. Advertising it locally will limit its exposure and may also be a hassle, according to my experience.

A dealer will probably only give 75% of the book retail value, if that, but would certainly be quick.

I checked gunbroker and a couple where at 1300-1400 but like you said no bids or sale. I had sorta looked at it to be around what you have suggested but easier to go down than up. No real hurry to sale and will list here and few other places as well. Thank you very much for the help.

The last two that sold on GB were between $900 and $1000. As always, what you ask will have a direct relationship to how quickly it sells.

Around here (Western SD and NE Wyoming) they are from $800 to $1000 depending on condition.

I paid $1,375 to SWFA plus $213 in shipping, taxes, and FFL in 2013 to get this 1885 browning 7mmRM that I hunted with in 2014.

It was what I wanted and I paid extra.
Guns have gone up at 3% compounded for 100 years, but Colt revolvers and Browning single shots have done better.

That is a nice set up there. I have it posted in classy now for 1099.00. She is really sharp in my opinion but what do I know!!!
