I saw one with killer wood, like that last Monday, but the $1,595.00 price tag stoped me!
I've seen two of them better than that, one of which I own.

Well, trot out some pictures, Bucko!👀

I might add that I've seen another one, that had better wood. Similar marbling but more of it
I shot it last Sunday with some cast bullet loads. It was not very fond of them, so more work continues.
Very Very Nice, some of the better wood lately.......

Apparently it's still hit or miss. There are a few on gunbroker right now and while the wood isn't as plain as a lot of it recently it's still nothing to write home about, and especially nothing to recommend those asking prices.
I like to see the better wood even if it come with a price hike. These two seem well worth the price of admission.
I am a wood whore, but have never been able to get any of the fur #1s that I have owned to shoot with reasonable accuracy, despite throwing lots of $$ at various accurizing techniques. Good luck.
I have a new Number 1 in .44 Magnum, but it must have come from a different planet than those did. I have seen more attractive 2x4's at Home Depot than the stock on mine. The metal and woodwork is first rate, but there is nothing at all approaching "figure" in the buttstock. I ordered the rifle online with no chance to inspect before buying. Needless to say, I was disappointed, although I do like the rifle otherwise.
My .243 RSI is boring as heck in wood.
I hunt it without too much worry.
Even a bland wood #1................is nicer than most other rifles
Fixing new one is simple.
Buy an old red pad with great wood.
Swap-a-roo
Resell the old one with the new wood
That's how I have a 450-400 with 3X crotch, filled pores and a red pad.
100% break even.

Forgot one step:
Be condemned to Collector Hell for all Eternity (but not by me).
A buddy of mine and I each have one of the 44 magnum number ones. Spectacular wood on both really. You're out of luck for pictures on this site.
Only after a seller offered to open up the six 44 No.1's he had for sale did I wind up buying one. And boy did I buy one! I paid more than I've ever paid for a rifle after seeing the nicely figured Circassian stock it had, and I've always been a 'deal' buyer. I told 'self' it was an investment to keep NIB but,... how could anyone not want to PLAY WITH AND SHOOT one of these compact little No.1's?! I guess I'm just going to play with it and deal with any scratches or dents that happen.
You've heard "This Buds for You!"?
I guess "This No.1's for ME!"
