Looks like a fishing trip. Looking for suckers I think. You're not missing anything.

I got one of those from SAS for $879.

Think of all the money I saved!😱

Now that Ruger has stopped making the #1 as a stock item and only doing limited runs for Lipsey's, some people get the idea that those made before have become instant collector's items. I think similar ads such as the OP posted will soon become rather common. Like old man Barnum once said, "A sucker is born every minute and two to take him" I did turn down a black pad 7x57 a few years ago, Guy wanted $700, I offered $600. Ok split the difference at $650. He still has it AFAIK. No matter. I already had one in a red pad gun. I really like that model in that cartridge so sometimes I kind of kick myself for not just buying it.
I didn't pay much attention to the ad other than the ridiculous price but if it's a red pad, it will most likely have one of the bad Wilson barrels.
Prime example, I have two Ruger #1 B models in 25-06. The first has the wood looking like it was rode hard and put away wet. Bluing has some wear. Damn thing shoots like a target rifle with the 120 gr. Speer Hot Cores. The other is a pristine looking like NIB and it's a bloody scatter gun. Fantastic wood, everything you'd want in that type rifle, but it's inaccurate as hell. One of these days I'll have to tinker with it some and see if I can make it shoot.
I collected #1's for a while and yes, I like to hunt with them but even Lipsey's prices are a bit out of line IMHO.

It's NIB, so unless they used a random stock photo, it's the same 26" Varmint model with a 1-7.7 twist I bought from Darrik. The fast twist is probably a by-product of their 6mm Creed Americans and chassis rifles. I wasn't really hot for another .243 or Number 1 for that matter, but the twist, along with Darrik's killer price, sold me. Lots of long, pointy 6mm bullets out there now.
