I came across a Ruger #1 25-06 AH for sale for 800$, I have always liked the looks of the #1 and wanted to try it out. The guy selling it says this is a hard to find gun and a great deal for the money. This isn't the best time for me to buy a rifle but I don't want to miss out on a great gun either. He has the original box and papers and load data with targets to back promises of very small groups with 110 grain accubond. It includes the Ruger rings but no scope. If there are any #1 experts out there is this as good a deal as it sounds? I have seen the rifle and it is in very good condition! Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm not an expert but...

That is a good price and fair for the rifle
I would agree....great price on a limited run rifle ( #1-AH).

Doc
I have probably handled and sold more of these AH's than any other FFL; probably 50! This is a steal!
This AH is one of the best handling hunting rifles that Ruger has ever made in the the No.1 Single Shot. They all shoot well. The only thing of interest about this rifle is that many were stocked with Circassian walnut. To me, that is a bonus. If you can't recognize Circassian, send me a pic, or post one here, and I will offer my opinion. There were 3 different runs of these rifles for Lipsey's. the 1st was in the 134-18XXX range. About a year or so later, a smaller number in the 134-20XXX range-all of these that I have seen were Circassian. Later, at about 134-35XXX a few more. All of this group that I have seen had Circassian. I even found one with the Anniversary(or Boddington) checkering and a red Hawkeye recoil pad. I wrote an article on these in the Spring issue of the ROCS Digest for the Ruger Owners & Collectors Society. One of our Members shot a coyote with his 25-06 AH at over 900 yards.

I'd definitely go for it. Had one of the Circassian-stocked .25-06 AH's for several years, and not only was it good-looking, but shot very well. To me, the configuration is about ideal for a general deer rifle, not too heavy like a 1B but not as muzzle-light as a 1A.

Thanks for the information, I'm convinced, going to go ahead and buy it!
