I don't see these rifles discussed here much. I've owned one for years and think it's a great rifle. My old eyes don't see the sights any more, and a scope sort of ruins the lines, but aside from that I like it. Are they not considered desirable?

The rifle had a short production run, so there are not many out there. I may be wrong, but i believe the tooling went up in a fire too. So there are not many parts and accessories out there.

The TCR83 is a lovely rifle with very good lines. It was a leader in the switch barrel arena and would have had a long run if not for the fire. There was also that issue of the safety needing 3 hands to function easily...

This one has always been dependable and a pleasure to carry and shoot. It is sort of classy. Pretty wood too. That double button safety is different! I look at mine more than I shoot it these days. It's nicely accurate with a scope, but boy that scope doesn't look right setting up there.

The bluing and wood on the Aristocrat was very special. I don't know what calibers you have but I would absolutely scope it if I were going to shoot it. Take a look at some of the lower power 1" scopes, like the 1.5-6x36 from Bushnell or the 2.5-8x36 by Leupold. Either of those scopes would be a great addition and will fit your rifle very well.

I put a Leupold 1x4 on it. Rifle is a 3006. with 125 sierras and varget it shoots great. But it feels so much nicer without the glass. Ahh for the eyes I had 30 years ago.

The 30-06 is about as large as I would want on the TCR. It's such a nice, light rifle, I think the 30-06 would get your attention when it goes off.

yep. 125s 0r 130 speers at about 2800 do fine and don't beat me up.

I have an SSK custom barrel for mine in .375-06 JDJ. It is "lively" to say the least!

Pops has one, in .22 hornet w decent wood, and a spare .223 bbl.
Told him I'd buy the .22 hornet off him whenever he sells it.
The safety is horrendous, but I need a fox rifle and it is a pretty thing.

The 22 Hornet was just perfect for the TCR. Not necessarily from a lack of recoil but because it kills the "cool factor" stone cold dead. A Hornet in a single shot stalking rifle is about the perfect example of form and function.

The 223 is about as good as you can reduce the loads down to 22 Hornet velocities or even 22 mag velocities.

All this talk makes me miss my TCR...

His is the single trigger job, IIRC the double was called the Aristocrat.
That's the one I wanted.

Was just thinking..............too bad they didn't make a .35 rem bbl for them.
