Picked up a nice Ruger #1 Varmint in .223 this morning at a small local gun show. Serial number shows it is from 1985. Has really nice wood with a few hunting dings, had a Harris bipod and rings on it, I threw the scope on when I got home. Can't wait to get it out and sight it in.

Nice find! Will be anxious to see a report with targets showing what it does at the range. Have fun!

Hey Augie, can you copy links from that image-hosting site directly to your post?

Thanks.

Nice rifle! Care to share what you paid to further stoke our envy?

Yes that is what I did, loaded my pics to Postimage.org and used the link they provide, found this site since Photobucket screwed everything up and so far is working OK.

I picked it up for 460.00 including the Harris bipod, I've really been looking for a 220 Swift but this one had too nice of wood to turn down and I reload for 223 anyways so I'm good to go.

$460 with the bipod? Great wood on the stock and even better on the price. If you ever want to make some money on it put me in line... smile Have fun at the reloading bench and range getting that one dialed in.

Wow...that was a steal. Good find and nice wood. I have a 2014 model 1V Swift and the wood is in competition for the "plain as a fence post" award. laugh You did good!

I have a Ruger #1V 223 made in 1999.
I got it online, shipped to my FFL.
I cleaned out the Copper, went to the range with hunting ammo, and it shot a 1/2" 5 shot group at 100 yards.

Why would anyone sell that gun?

Could be they had to carry it up a hill one day and need the money for physical therapy.

Nice wood.
I hope it shoots.
I had one that had plain wood and suffered from very poor accuracy.
It’s gone
