That's a great caliber for the Encore. You're going to be very happy with it.

Your going to love it. I have one that came from the Custom Shop in NH many years ago Rifle has 24" barrel and shoots sub-moa.
Also have a 15" Encore pistol and it shoots as good as the rifle. ENJOY.

I saw your post/pic about your 700 Classic, you must be a 250 fancier. I have a 700 Classic similar to yours, bedded/floated and Swarovski on top. You wrote that you didn't handload. With your rifles you may be missing out, the 250 really responds to handloading.

Thanks all for the kind words. Yes I do like the 250 Savage. Don't really have the space to do reloading. Maybe I can change that someday!
However the Win Silvertips 100 grain shoot MOA in the 700. haven't shot the TC yet.

Sbrown,

I bought a .250 Savage stainless 26 inch sporter weight barrel from the T/C custom shop back in 2005 ( i think) as a lighter weight alternative to the 25-06 pro hunter barrel I already had. A much lighter weight rig as compared to the heavier pro hunter barrels. I shoot Hornady 100 grain interlocks and the 117 gr SST bullets, mostly the 117 gr SST which is sub 3/4 inch for 3 shots with deer kills past 340 yards. The little 250 Sav is the perfect "Youth" cartridge with low report and almost no recoil....My 11 year old grandson will be caring the .250 this fall for youth season.

It the only rifle I carry anymore.

Do they have a 1/10 twist?

Steve,

Keep us posted how your new T/C 250 Savage shoots. I have some 100 gr Hornady loads you may want to try.

A hand press like the Lee, dies, hand trimmer, and e-scale will fit in a small plastic tub that can be tucked away. Doesn't take a bunch of stuff to crank out decent loads. I used Lee Loaders for years. I hope you'revsaving your brass for the future.

Enjoy your new toy!
