At the Armijo Springs get together A couple really good guys helped scope and sight in my Highwall.

After finally getting to shoot some rounds through the 325wsm 1885 all I can say is...

Changed the scope to a 3x9 Conquest from the Leupold

I've owned Winchester, Browning High Wall and B-78's in a number of calibers/chamberings. All have been shooters. A number of the Brownings had stunning wood under all that acrylic. I've a B-78 coming in, chambered for the 300 H&H, which is my favorite 30 cal. The High Wall in 325 is on my bucket list.

Been lookin for a highwall for quite sometime and they are few and far between here.
This one sat on consignment for 2 years with a high price on it.
Finally price started inching down and I made an offer and wholla it was mine.
But what the heck is a 325wsm?

I've got the Browning 1885 High Wall in 7 Mag. I first saw a used one at a gun shop in Waco, Texas but it was in 22-250 and I really wanted a 7 Mag for mule deer hunting in west Texas. I ordered the 7 Mag and it has been one of my favorites for several years. She doesn't get out of the safe much anymore, but she's still purdy. I took her out last week on a date and fed her her favorite meal. 145 grain Speer Grand Slams over a heaping charge of IMR 4831 and she put 3 of them touching at 100 yards. That load chrono's at 3150 out of the 28"barrel and has accounted for my longest kill at 603 yards.

I will say this though. The trigger sucks on my rifle. I need to take it to the GS and have it fixed.

Like the Miroku SSs a bunch. Have a couple Low Walls, which are easier for Grandpa to carry.

Thanks Pappy, it was stumbling upon a 45colt low wall that got me interested in the 1885.

Sure would like to find a low wall in a rifle caliber as it would be handy as heck.

I have a Hornet and a .44 Traditional Hunter. Like to have a .357, but thise are scarce and spendy.

I bought the Hornet new in a gunshop-$695.

I bought the .44 from Shooting Investments, NIB, about $1500. Just had to have it. Both have nice wood.

The Browning LW .243s are reasonably common; the .260s rare and spendy, though well worth it IMO, if you're looking for a classy hunting rifle. Hard to get anything nicer at those prices. Cruise GB if you want either. They happen!

With the new scope...

I got the hankering for a Highwall a few years ago. Bought a like new in box here off of classifieds for $650. Lucky and seen it posted about five minutes after the owner posted it. It was in 7mm WSM. Wasn't sure about clambering, but couldn't resist the price. Turned out to be one of the most accurate rifles I've ever bought. I've got an old Low-wall re-chambered in .25-20 WCF that is an absolute joy to shoot, recoils likes a .22 Rim-fire. Enjoy your fine rifle. A lot of the Leopold bases for the octagon barrels are not precisely machined as far as height from back to front bases. Burris self aligning insert rings resolves this problem if needed.
