What are these in .280 at 95% bringing? A friend hit me up to trade for my CZ-550FS in 7x64. Point me in the right direction. Thanks

Fair trade price-wise I'd say, but I'd keep the CZ. They keep going up in price and availability seems limited. I like Number 1s, but the B models are heavy, and any Ruger SS can be problematic as to accuracy, or not. Gotta factor in quality of wood and rifle lust too, naturally.

Keep the CZ

myself i would trade and get the Ruger #1,CZ does not have as much value in the future years a Ruger # 1 always go up in value with time.

Can comment on value, but I’ve had four #1s. None had acceptable accuracy. Pretty guns, but that’s all they have in my view.

I have 9 or 10, all are 1Bs and all are quite accurate, including a .22Hornet that may be the most accurate rifle I own.

Yup, being a No.1 loony I would make that trade in a heartbeat, especial if the 1B is in .280!

I love 'em from afar, but in hand they've done only so-so. My brother's Liberty .270 was an exception, but evaded me. Mausers and near-Mausers draw me at least as much, so keeping a good-shooting 550 would be an easy call, wacky Euro-chambering and all.

I have two #1s.- a 1B in .257 Roberts and a 1A in 7x57. Have had them both for over 20 years and wouldn’t give them up for a house & lot.
The 1B was accurate right from the get-go and still is. It shoots just about anything I feed it into 1.25” groups or better. My favorite hunting loads are all under m.o.a.
The 1A (light sporter) started out as a .30-06. It was fussy about what it was fed but I did have several loads that would group 1 to 1.25”. As age and arthritis in my neck and shoulders eventually caught up to me I decided I needed something with a little less recoil. Not wanting to give up the sweet handling little 1A, I did some research and decided that a 7x57 would be a good choice. Hence, in the spring of ‘18 the rifle was delivered to a local gunsmith who installed a custom 23” 7x57 barrel in the same contour as the origional. It was my good fortune that he specializes in match/long range rifles and the barrel maker (also a local fellow) specializes in match grade barrels. As a result, I now have a light, sweet handling little rifle that fits me like a glove, shoots under m.o.a. and doesn’t hurt me. Almost everything I’ve tried (it doesn’t like 140 Nosler partitions) has given great accuracy, with 145 Speer Hot-cors and 154 Hornady Interlocks over H4350 being the real ticket.

I dont know the $$$, but; I do have a Brno 600 in 7x64. A quality rifle. That gun is the predecessor of the 550. No way, ever, I would trade that for a 280! I know you know, but; for the benefit of others the two are identical in performance and almost interchangeable. Same loading data. The 7x64 is a great old classic and the 280 is right up there with the 270 as my personal pet peeve. They both go back to the ugly american metric hating days.

I had a Voere for a while that was chambered in 7X64 Brennke, and it was a fantastic rifle - except for the cartridge flippy loading thing on the side! LOL!
