Hello I just bought a 50 year old commerative number one. The iron sights shoot way low. How can I get a different front sight please?

Thanks in advance.

NECG.
Have you tried various brands of ammo first?
put a decent brand scope on it, maybe a straight 6 x
50 years might be too long ago for this but the newer Ruger sights have a hole toward the breech side for a little locking pin to go into. If yours does Ruger could probably send you a lower height.

Assuming so, there will be a number on the bottom of the sight blade - 2, 3 8, whatever.
2 - .410" high
3 - .380" high
8 - .465" high

Those three are the only ones I have to measure and you can see they don't follow any logical reasoning or progression so you can't extrapolate or interpolate. Anyway, you could tell the Ruger CS person what number you have and ask for a lower sight but the CS person probably won't have any idea of what you need or even what you're taking about, they'll probably only know the "proper" sight number for your serially numbered rifle. If the correction needed falls close to any of the three I've posted then you could ask for that number specifically. I can post the formula for determining the proper correction if you need it.

OR - just follow EdM's suggestion and look at the NECG website. They actually list the exact heights of the sights they offer so you can choose the proper one. Their sights fit older and newer styles of Ruger No. 1 sight bases although it might take a little filing of the blade base to fit.

Option Ruger is cheap but kind of a crap shoot unless you get someone who knows exactly what you're talking about, option NECG is exact but be prepared to pay $40 plus exorbitant shipping for a 2/10 oz part.
No it is the Ruger 50 year commerative!

I will just get an sight assortment.

The back sight has a really nice adjustment, so I should be able to dial her in. Thanks ED but I kinda wanna keep her stock as I doubt I will use her too much.
I had to put a shorter front sight blade on mine as well. Solved the problem though.
