A friend of mine in Northern Idaho had an animal in her chicken coop this morning at 3:30. It killed and ate the better part of one of the chickens. She went out with a flashlight and saw it running up a tree very fast. Large cat size, grayish color, No stripes on its very bushy tail.
American Marten?
Anyway what to use as bait to trap it?

Edited to add: I just sent her a picture of a Fisher and she thought that could be it.

Marten aren't hard to catch. Just about any kind of red meat will work, and I've also used jam.

Roger that. I suggested Fisher for that reason. I've seen both, but I wasn't there to see this chicken water.
