Any of you guys have any experience with the orange bottle tanning solution and buck skin? I used it in 2020 to tan my buck skin and had great results. I used it again this year to tan my buck skin and got good results. But I have one problem, I applied a little to much of the tanning solution and it's soaked into the fur leaving a slight oily layer on the outer edges of hide and bullet entrance and exit wounds.

I took a damp rag to try and clean it up but it didn't really remove the excess tanning solution from the fur.

I was thinking a wash in a 5 gallon bucket with some Luke warm water and a bit of dish soap might clean it up but I'm worried about the hair slipping if I get it sopping wet.

As always, any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Sorry I can't help. I used that stuff once to cure a buck scrotum for a joke Xmas present for my little sister who sews and does crafts. Worked great. I was impressed with the results but never tried to scale up.

Hope someone useful replies.
If it’s properly tanned, getting it wet again with some soap shouldn’t cause slippage if it is dried quickly.
Late response but it ended up working just fine. Some warm tap water and dawn dish soap and a little bit of scrubbing on the fur cleaned it up real nice and removed all the tanning formula. Looks great and no hair slippage.

I have always wanted a buck scrotum coin pouch. Maybe one day I'll have one haha.
glad it worked out. Soap water works on more things than we realize without ill effects.
