Some of my best memories as a kid growing up on the farm was the time spent on my trapline. Every day after school I would run my small muskrat and mink line. My Dad would go along when he had the time and it was some of the best times we spent together. I learned a lot about animals and the art of tracking and reading sign in those early years that helped me be a better hunter when I grew up.

I made sure that my sons had the same experience that I had as a boy. How many of you take your kids trapping?

Take my daughters out whenever the weather permits. They love looking at all the different tracks in the snow and watching the squirrels run around. Or maybe its because dad lets them press the gas on the 4-wheeler once in a while. Whatever their reasons for wanting to come along, I enjoy the time spent with them in the bush.

I take my son with me as often as possible - He really gets a kick out of the whole process.
