So recently I decided to take the advice of mjbgalt who recommended "Ridgeline", based on my thread about The Heart of Everything That Is: The Untold Story of Red Cloud, An American Legend, and I am glad that I did. Thanks mjbgalt.

I am just getting knee deep into this somewhat different account of the makings of the Fetterman's Massacre, where 4000 mounted Lakota warriors, joined by a couple more tribes and led by the distinguished chief Red Cloud, lured 81 soldiers out of their fortress and over a ridge where they made very quick work of them. Crazy Horse was just coming into his own as a leader and was instrumental in the luring of the unsuspecting soldiers, who had orders not to cross the ridge.

In this novel by the author of "The Revenant", the story doesn't appear to change, but there tends to be much more in depth personal insight from and information about many of the individual characters involved.

If you liked the first one you'll probably like this one too!
