Have any of you guys seen the HBO series and/or read the books?
Posted By: BillyGoatGruff Re: Game of Thrones - 09/30/11
Yeah, I've read all the books, and almost got HBO just to see the series! But I didn't, so I'm waiting for the dvds to come out on Netflix.

I watched the first season....really liked it.

Lots of incredibly HOT women in the show. Be warned it has a lot of adult content. I enjoyed the show.

I have read all the Books except the latest one.....highly recommended.

Haven't read the books, but I may after seeing the series. Seems like it would be a better read than show.

The books are very good- but be forewarned the author is ruthless! Do not get too attached to anyone...

First season replays beginning tonight on HBO.

Read the books and watched the show. For the most part the show followed the first book fairly close.

Love it.

I just love this show as much as i loved the books.

I'm I going to enjoy the books if I see the show first?

Posted By: BillyGoatGruff Re: Game of Thrones - 03/27/12
I'm watching via Netflix finally, and judging by what I've seen so far I don't think you'll ruin anything by watching first. As is to be expected I guess, some of the scenes are awesome, straight out of the book (as I imagined them) and some are pitifully comical.

Thanks for the response, we just watched the 1st two episodes last night, enjoyed both of them and looking forward to the rest.

Books will probably have to wait until next Winter

Finished the 1st season up this past weekend, AWESOME show.

Looking forward to the 2nd season and the books.

ps: For those who have scene the first few episodes of Season 2, how is it so far?

Working my way through the dvds, I think I'm on the last one. Pretty good, but I wish they'd have cast somebody hotter to be Cersei, and Renly wasn't a [bleep] in the books.
Posted By: McManusFan Re: Game of Thrones - 04/16/12
I think you will. On the making-of documentary George R.R. Martin talks about how it would never have worked as a single movie and was very pleased with the HBO series.

Haven't gotten that far in the book(s) yet, but why in the world does every show have to have some queer in it these days?

Personally, I think this is probably one of the best casting line ups for any show as a whole I've ever scene. Everyone plays their parts exceptionally well (my opinion at least).

The comment about the queen, google her. She's pretty hot in real life, so is the blond girl (Dany). At least in the show their not all done up in perfect make-up and hair like other shows (Camelot)

GF and I just finished season one of Camelot last night, enjoyed the first few episodes but isn't even a close call between it and Game of Thrones. Some of the characters down right suck (except Morgan, Gwenevere, & maybe Merlin).

I am working my way through the books (audio books) and I am on the second book now. I have been holding off from ordering the DVDs for the first season till after I have read all the books just incase there are differences I don't want to get confused.

So far I like the books

Don't get me wrong, Lena Headey is smokin, in 300 I thought she was awesome. Just not a great fit I don't think for this part, but acting wise I think she's doing great. And the chick that plays Dany is very hot.

Now Eva Green from Camelot, whoohee. Very nice, but there again, Arthur is this little pencil necked dweeb.

Renly was a queer in the books...it just wasnt as blatant as they make it on the show.

Lena Headey makes me actually like Cercei more than the books...but I agree....I thought she would be more attractive.

I recently finished watching season 3 and I'm almost done reading volume 5, "A Dance with Dragons", which does not follow volume 4 "A Feast for Crows" in the traditional sense, so much as run in tandem with it. This according to the author...

It's good stuff, and I look forward to the next book, "The Winds of Winter".

We're finishing season three right now. Discs two and three come tomorrow via netflix.
We started watching the series randomly a year or so ago and got so confused we decided to start watching the discs from the start.

Great series and remarkably well done. Peter Dinklage (the imp) is incredible. The weak points for us have revolved around Dynarus and the Targarians. Hopefully that will improve. The Wall, Winter-fell, and Kings Landing have all been steller scenes.

I noticed on the credits that locations are Iceland, Croatia, and Northern Ireland. There may be more.

The problem for us is I don't want to subscribe to actual HBO, (we used to) with Bill Maher and the rest of the progressive scumbags there. I don't know how we'll watch season four. I suppose we'll wait for them on disc.
Posted By: Jim in Idaho Re: Game of Thrones - 03/28/14
That's how I've watched it. Just wait until they come out on DVD and then watch the whole season over two or three nights.

Season three ends somewhat not like you'd expect. As in "The Walking Dead", absolutely no actor is assured of a long term contract. wink

Wow, now we're wondering who is going to get axed!
Posted By: HugAJackass Re: Game of Thrones - 03/28/14
The time between this season and the last one is painful.
Posted By: Jeffpg Re: Game of Thrones - 03/29/14
I won't give anything away, but I will tell you that having just finished reading "A Dance with Dragons" that I am still somewhat in shock by some events...

the beheading of the beloved Lord Eddard Stark isn't necessarily the most shocking thing that George R.R. Martin hits you with. This is one ruthless author!
Posted By: HugAJackass Re: Game of Thrones - 03/29/14
The Red Wedding is a hard one for me to get over...

I can't wait to see what happens next...

Ready for the last book and I'm anxious to see how Aryas character plays out
