The thread about the Texas books and the Western Movies thread got me to thinking about "Brules" written by Harry Combs. It's been a long time since I've read it, but is one of my favorite books. It was the first (I think) of a trilogy of books that Combs wrote. Can't remember the second book, but I think the third was "The Legend of the Painted Horse", which I didn't like as well, though was still a good read.

2nd was 'The Scout', also didn't like the painted horse except had a good ending. One of my favorite westerns series.

2nd was "The Scout" - Also good. I also didn't care for 'L of the Painted Horse' except the last chapter made it worth reading. Can't give it away or else would ruin it.
