My son shot his first deer this morning during Camp Atterbury's youth hunt. He used
my his H&R 357 Maximum with a MP Molds 200gr LHP cast at 30:1 and running ~1200fps with Viht Tin Star. Shot was 25-30yds and the deer ran about 60yds to die just inside the woodline. Now the deer is on my Rec Teq and should be done in about 8 hours.

Congratulations to the young man.
Welcome to the fold, young feller!

Way to go, the start of many more great memories!

Very cool, congratulations young man
Congratulations to your son.
Thanks everyone! He is definitely hooked. That deer is about all he talked about this weekend while visiting his grandparents.
Dinny
Looks like he made a perfect shot on her.
Awesome
Dang it, can't find a "like" button. This will have to suffice, well done young man!
NOTHING BETTER THAN THAT. CONGRATS
Congrats to him and to you for getting him out there.
Mine got his this past year too!
That's Great Stuff right there!
Congrats, and Enjoy!
Circling around to the original post, my son used my H&R 357 Maximum rifle and really wanted to keep it. That was a decent thought but I'm not ready to let go of it yet.
Wayne York of Oregunsmithing is reboring a H&R 22 Hornet Superlight barrel for my son. The plan is to custom throat the barrel to his cast bullets (which will allow a wide variety of jacketed bullets to work too), crown and thread it at 19", cerakote it to a color of his choosing, and have it etched with his name, the year, and the cartridge.
We should get it back in 3-4 months and still have plenty of time for load development and practice time before deer season.
Thanks, Dinny
Thats awesome, way to get it done. Congrats to both of you.
Congrats!!! Sounds like an awesome build you're doing for him. Don't forget pics when it comes it!! I'm getting close to settled on a load for my H&R Maxi with AA1680 and a 180 XTP. I'd post a pic of my Maxi if I could figure out how.
Awesome, congrats to you both!
Congratulations to your son. Yes, good times were had by all.
Congrats to you both on a really nice trophy
