My daughter is 12 and got her first little buck last year. She bagged that buck with a gun she borrowed from family. This year we bought her a gun of her own and she was looking to take a buck bigger than last year. We drive 10 hours each fall to hunt on family land in Missouri and we hunt hard for three days. In the past she has taken at least one day to sleep in. This year she was determined and woke up every morning at 4 am and went to the stand with me. She stayed all day every day determined to not get skunked. But in the end she didn’t get that bigger buck.

She was disappointed in the end, but learned a great lesson about hunting. Sometimes it’s about the memories you make with family and being able to enjoy the beauty of nature. Thankfully there will be many more hunts with her, she has the itch.

Still haven’t figured out how to post a picture but below is a link to the gallery of her and I after the last day. She is 12 and I’m going to say she is standing on an incline. smile Won’t be to long before I’m looking up to her though. Special thanks to AKWolverine for helping out with that Leupold scope that is on that rifle.

Nice job Dad! I didn’t shoot a deer for the first several seasons that I was able to hunt, your right it is all about the memories shared with family and friends. What kind of rifle/ caliber did you buy her?

Thanks Brazos for putting up the picture. Gun is a Savage Axis in 243. It had should strap until day three when the rivet busted. Got a spare at the house, so she will be all set up for next year.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Merry Christmas and well done, sir!
