Hey gang,

Anyone out there been hunting in Arkansas? We are headed that way next week for a flooded timber hunt. Just looking to see what the current conditions are like.
Buddy hunted Stuttgart last week and shot several ducks and some snows.

I have only talked to one guy that has had a decent hunt in Ark. They did good one day and after that it was 2 days of killing geese, spec's and snows.
They were a little west and south of Stuttgart
We will also be a bit south of Stuttgart. Our buddies out there report pretty good conditions. The last few years have been off down there. Hopefully, this will be a more typical year for the region. We are pretty excited to get out there. Thanks for the reports!
Let us know how you do
Leaving Arkansas now. Thunderstorms ran us out of the timber this morning. Gotta get home before ice and snow hit home, so third day is a bust. Shot 14 yesterday, mallards, wood ducks and one merganser. Conditions in Arkansas seemed pretty good, with a fair amount of ducks in the timber and rice fields. Northing spectacular, but pretty good.
Sounds like it was worth the trip...Congrats!!!!
Counts are better than the last 3-4 years, but still low for mid January.

Good conditions all weekend and lots died.

Big freeze coming later this week.
Just got back yesterday afternoon, after our group met for our annual "MLK hunt" out of Brinkley, just down the road from Stuttgart. Weather was kind of tough, particularly after that snow blew in late Saturday night and through Sunday morning. Rained pretty heavy/steady all morning Saturday, but the lightning didn't get "too close" so we hung in there, was our best day.

We have a lease, flooded rice fields. Also went to the local DU banquet Saturday night, so got to talk to quite a few.

Overall, as TimberRunner said, more than we've seen the past 2 years, but definitely not to the levels of 5-10 years ago. We took mallards, teal, greys, a few "elusive" norther shovelers, as well as snow, ross, and specks. Saw quite a few pintails, but never within gun range, so they are still there. The guys hunting the flooded timber out on the White and Cache seemed to have pretty similar reports as far as numbers.

We'll be back next year.
