Looking for a report on the waterfowl hunting conditions in Arkansas. He are headed that way tomorrow and will be hunting through the weekend. I hope there are some ducks waiting on us out there!
Timber or fields?
Hunting fields this year. Northeast part of the state.
You missed the big push

Beat the breaks off them coming out of the freeze.

They have headed back north. Last weekend, the southern zone of MO got them heading back. There are pockets where numbers are still strong, but the whole state is flooded, so they have lots of places to go.

Sunshine and wind should help.
Don’t count on Bass Pro in Memphis to have waterfowl ammo of you are in your way to Arkansas. They only had a few boxes of BBS. You would thin they would be stocked up like Mac’s always is.
We're going to need a report when you get back.

Thanks, RS
How's the hunt WH?

Been getting pics of tailgates full of dead birds.

Also, never travel to hunt without 3x that amount of ammo you think you'll need.
Wilkes, hope you had a good hunt.

We beat the absolute hell outta em that last two days. Yella dog picked up a bunch.

We sure did have a great hunt! I’ve never seen the Specks work the decoys like the did the past few days. We had some absolute epic Speck hunts. Ducks were a bit more shy, but we did well with them too. Lots of Pintails and Teal in the area. It was a much different hunt than our usual flooded timber, Stuttgart trip. Not really better, just different. My brown pup got his turn picking up some birds as well. He handled a lightly wounded Speck pretty well, which made me relieved and pretty happy! smile. I hope the rest of your season goes well!!!!!
Congrats on the great time and getting the pup into Birds....

Waterfowl experiences never cease to amaze me. Glad you got see all those mallards. We saw more geese last week than I have ever seen after 22 years of hunting in Arkansas.
I'm 61 and a lifelong waterfowler here on the Texas coast.I doubt I will ever see again the number of mallards that were coming in to that peanut field.I can only imagine that my dad and granddad are hunting similar fields in Heaven.

Absolutely!!!!!!!
Once several years back, I called at some high fliers just to see if I could pull one or 2 off of the group. To my surprise they all came and brought friends with them. There were ducks landing on ducks and the noise was so loud you could not believe it. There were 3 of us hunting and we all just sat there watching the show, never fired a shot. There must have been well over a couple of thousand ducks hitting our little hole of water! It was a sight to behold and I was so caught up in it that it never crossed my mind to a a picture of any of it. That memory is burned into my brain and I have never seen anything like it before or since.
Had a hell of a season. Best one in last 5+ years. Cleaning up now. Will last for next few months. Then time to get ready for next season.
