I'd like to get a quality, dependable, scope for my 95.
Going to use a 1 piece mount to hold on to it.
Reviews say a Mantis is good, but most scopes are well under a hundred bucks, no matter the manufacturer.
How can a good scope be that cheap ? I'm assuming not.
Who's using what ?

I had an airgun-rated Bushnell Trophy 4-12 AO on an Air King magnum springer for over 1000 shots. Since then it killed a deer on a .243, and now rides a CZ .22. Adjustments appear to be spot-on, though I never tested it formally. I think they're discontinued, but probably still available here and there for $150-$200.

A Weaver 2.5-7 Rimfire, also airgun rated, two-grouped on me on the same airgun. Seems okay so far on a 10/22. Time will tell. The Air King now again wears a Vortex Sparc 2 red dot, which is okay for the use I put it too, and it's light.

Hawke IR 2-7x32 AO on a HW30s, good clear glass and sleek profile for airgun. Has a mildot reticle, but I haven't tested it.

I guess it depends upon how much quality you want. It may be an o.k. scope, but it's not going to be on par with most scopes costing two or three times as much. I have Bushnell Elites or Leupolds on my spring powered airguns.

I have had good luck with Nikon EFR 3-9x40 on my R9.

Yeah that really goes well too

If I was scoping a HW-95 I would go with a Hawke Endurance series 3x9 AO Mil-dot. Not much it cannot do on an Air rifle.
About $100 .Airgun rated.
Keep your reciept and paperwork in case you need to get it fixed.

For an air gun you are going to want an A/O scope, that is airgun rated. Best "budget" scope I have found is a Hammers.
I Love their 4-12X40 AO. Have two and they are "magnum springer rated" great for the money IMO.
Hammers 4-12 X40 AO on Amazon

Hawke is upper crust, but has a lifetime warranty. I have had to use it once and it was painless... A+ company in my opinion.

Hawke - has held up for 10 years now, no issues on AA TX200 Hunter Carbine. Holds position and hits quarters at 30 yards still.

Hawke

SWFA 10X MQ and MMQ saddled in BKL Double Strap rings aboard FWB 124D and 300S. Both focus down/range to 10m and the MQ reticle is nice for swatting starlings or shooting OFT.

I got a cheap Walther scope (made in China) - 6x42 with adjustable parallax down to 8m. Seems okay and has lasted a few thousand rounds so far but the Walther LGU underlever mounted underneath it is fairly smooth.

I use an SWFA but the Hawk is used by a lot of people. AO and Springer rated for the recoil is a must. Never heard of the Mantis. Using an HW 95 with a cheap scope sounds ludicrous. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

Airgun Nation/Airgun Forum is the place to lurk for a while and learn. Some of us still get a lot of springer time. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

Friend of mine just purchased a .45 cal air rifle that came with a Hawke 4x12. I dunno if 12X is enough x's....for an airgun.

One of these things it's mounted on...

Hawke's a British company selling Chinese scopes, and Britain is full of serious air-gunners. A lot of them use Hawke scopes, and reviews on Pyramyd seem positive. The ones I have on real guns have been perfectly satisfactory so far.

Stick, naturally, seems to favor his SWFAs, and the close focus is a bonus. I believe he runs a pretty hot springer, a FWB 124, which ought to be a real scope-killer.

If you can find a Leupold 3x9 VX II rimfire and if you want to pay the price you will have the scope you are looking for.

Went 1 piece base, and an AO Mantis 3-9x40.
Very clear glass, no distortion around the edges.
Several hundred shots so far, and maintaining zero.
Really liking this set up.
It sure ain't a toy. I would NOT want to be shot with this thing. It'll kill you !

Had an old Bushnell shoot the reticle loose on a 30-06 once.

Never had a scope fail from a springer air rifle recoil though. I use a Simmons 22 mag 3-9x32 on my Nitro Piston 22. And have used a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40, and now a BSA Sweet17 4-12x40AO on my Ruger Blackhawk Elite .177, which is similar in power to a 95. They were all used scopes bought cheap, but mounted securely.

Looks nice.

I buy Leupolds and you can frequently get take offs from your LGS relatively inexpensively.

There is a Nikon Prostaff 3-x40 EFR in the classifieds right now. Great rimfire scopes.
