Still shooting during this lockdown? Luckily I recently picked up a Beeman R7 and have some basement entertainment until things let up and we can get back to shooting bigger guns.

That R7 is a damn nice rifle. I keep hoping to run into a nice used one.

I have been shooting in the basement too, plus my girlfriend has decided she likes shooting her CO2 gun as well, and my foster brother has gotten into it.

The CS guy at Airguns of Arizona told me yesterday that they've been swamped for the last 6-8 weeks. I know that all the bargain pellets are sold out everywhere. Looks like C-19 has sparked a bit of an airgun renaissance!

I know that if I had the space, I'd have set myself up with a little outdoors range by now.

The R7 is a great little gun. I use my Finewerkbau 124D as my mild powered gun around the house when I don't want to tote around one of the higher powered airguns.

i got a beat up old benjamin & a newer beeman with a 177cal &22cal barrel i try to shoot them as much as i can . they are to much fun

I have to say that, for sheer fun, the adult sized but mild .177's seem to be the best for me.
If its easy cocking, smooth shooting and accurate its a winner.

You might get a gun like that anywhere... You WILL get a gun like that if you buy a HW30, HW50, R7, many Diana's, etc. And in my limited experience a Cometa 400. The Walther Parrus is too powerful to be included on that list, but its an awfully nice rifle that I bought new for Wal-Mart money... Not broken in yet but already impressing, and easier to cock than my RWS 350 but in the same energy category.

Desire for speed has often limited the airgun functionality. I don't think many airguns can be pushed over 900 fps and get stellar accuracy. This is even truer with a springer.
I don't think that is a secret. 750-875 fps is a great window to be in, even with a PCP. R7 just follows the rules.

I bought a magnum .177 recently, but with the intention of onlynrunning heavy pellets through it to keep velocity around 850-950 fps. Ill let the gun tell me what it likes at that point. Its a bit of an experiment, so ill have fun no matter what.

I agree about the velocity. I've owned several magnum .177's, but I prefer to keep the .177's at R9 level or less. My high powered airguns are all 22 caliber now.

Mounted a SWFA 6x42 on my Air King a couple of weeks ago, and was very happy with the results at 35 yards. My ranges are open, but sometimes you just want to grab a little fun without all the fuss of packing up to go.

the R7 / hw30 is the best airgun made thus far, if you arent serious about killing critters w air power. accurate, smooth shootin, well made, handy. take away all my other airguns but leave the r7

R7's can kill in a pinch. They are accurate enough for precise shooting - granted not the best tool for the job but not incompetent either.

I've killed a shytload of rabbits and squirrels with rifles of similar power. Even killed a good sized coon and a possum with my old Daisy 881.

Centershot, nice pic, tell us about that scope. Btw, what pellet do you use on game? Head shot?

The scope looks to be a UTG Bugbuster.. I put one on a Remington 22 squirrel rifle. AO,Mildot,3-9, illuminated, locking turrets.
Centershot knows how to work on those rockchucks!

That is an old Bugbuster. I have since replaced it with a Nikon 3-9x40EFR.

I like the RWS Diabolo Basic in .177, head shots for sure with that little gun. I typically use Crosman Premier Hollow Points in .22cal in my R9.

The mild velocity works well but higher velocities are easily in the realm of slugs and PCP guns. I bit the bullet and bought a scuba compressor set up for charging PCP guns. But although I send a few pellets by PCP I notice there is a Beeman calling my name at my back door. An R-1 I believe in .177. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

I have one I bought thirty five years ago, killed a bunch of pests with it. Nice low recoil low noise rifle. Very accurate at my normal range of 10 to 15 yards.

Unless I'm out of town I shoot the P1 or the R1 Beeman mostly. The PCPs I own have DonnyFL suppressors on them and they are quiet. But they have a lot of power for an in town gun. Local authority has declared airguns to be firearms and as such we can't shoot them in town. But there is federal legislation that says you can not regulate an airgun calling it a firearm. I'm just waiting to see if I ever have to call my lawyer and sue the city. They like to make regulations on everything. But they don't follow them unless they want to. Just like a typical small town. They think the world turns on them and they are of the utmost importance. I think they are just impotent. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

I have an R7 and an R9 and shoot one of them most days. I can shoot 10 meters in my basement which gives me some good offhand practice. It's an easy way to maintain skills without having to go to the range. The R7 is really fun to shoot!

I have a Weihrauch HW30s, whichi is the R7 clone. I have started shooting it again. Working on off sticks and offhand. Got a spinner target and having fun.

My tuned R9 LE .177 is my favorite. It has gone with me on paid varmint hunts in aircraft hangers, ‘home supply outlet stores’, and inside grocery stores at night. However.... TWO used R7 (177) rifles have been acquired over the last few years, just happened up on them locally probably because there’s a Beeman dealer in Atlanta. They are nice to have around. They are in stock form, and are early models. One has the thinner barrel contour of earlier R7s, the other the later heavier barrel. Both have firearms that extend over the barrel block, and the nice palm swell in the grip. I wish I had time to tune them. All I’ve done is shoot and admire them. Grandkids will probably wind up with them.
PS- keep your watchful eyes open for a Beeman R8, they are REALLY NICE but a bit harder to find!
