I had one of the early Taurus Lightning pump rifle. Sold it soon after because I could never get it to function reliably. It went back to the factory once, but it didn't change much. Are the new ones any better?

Who even offers a new one these days?
Posted By: HunterShooter58 Re: Lightning rifle - 08/14/21
Uberti, Pedersoli !

Navy Arms!

I didn't check out Navy Arms who is offering one but I don't see any on the others websites, maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

Looks like Uberti, and Pedersoli don't make it any more!

USFA Firearms, used to make it also!

I was just at Dixie Gun Works Website for other reasons (Looking for bullet molds) and I found they have 3 models by Pedersoli in stock. A nice chunk of change at $1,650.00

USFA made one that was really nice.

Would have to find one used, as they are no longer in business.

Very high quality, maybe better than the original, or so it's been said.

Thanks to all for the thoughts. I have a couple originals in 32 WCF and 38 WCF. I only shoot them occasionally. I'll keep my eyes out for one in 44-40 WCF

They got pretty pricy as have other USFA guns.

Top quality.

I gave a new in the box Rossi in 45LC But it goes with my Rossi 454 SS carbine & pair of Taurus SS 6.5" 454 Casull Raging Bulls & the iron frame 1860 Henry in 45LC & several Rossi 45LC with Oct barrels of different lengths. Here's a funny Gun Test from 2000 shoots the 454 Casull https://www.gun-tests.com/handguns/...uch-power-too-little-real-world-utility/ &
now ammo is 1/3 to 1/2 more powerful & these are pro gun testers! They closed out the all stainless version Raging Bull last year for $450 so I bought a pair.

Those guys were a bit hard on the FA. They are expensive, but made like a bank vault.

WhereTaurus won in the Raging Bull was the double lock, one in front one in the rear. They haven't changed since the test in 2020. I have several 450 Marlins including a BFR. They claim the 454 Casull kicks the hardest for a handgun. I could have have bought the 2 454s in 2-3/4" but they are ported & back board about 1". I don't know if it's true but I read a guy shot himself in the head after the 1st shot as they are double action & the 1st shot scared him & kicked up & he pulled the trigger but I can't prove it but it's possible..
