I got this Marlin 1895 in .45-70, reshaped the stock for a more vintage shape and look, mounted tang sight, white bead front, had it checkered in a vintage pattern.

This gun already had an action job and is super slick. IIRC, it has a Wild West trigger. It's been a while and I've slept since then... blush

I then took my old 39 with Fajen stock that I fitted and checkered as a youngster, set it up with similar sights.

I never shot it in CAS but that's a nice combo for practice and for long range CAS shooting.

Thanks.

You'll notice the higher M-39 front sight. It was easier to raise line of sight than lower the cheek piece, set up for scope use.

They handle pretty close to the same even though they look different.

Dirtfarmer,
I have an 1895 Cowboy and love your set up.
Where can I find a peep sight like yours, what will it cost me and what brand/model number is it?
Thank you for any help you can send my way on this.

It may be a Marble, I'll have to check. IIRC, it came from Brownells.

With that LONG sight radius, it's pretty precise.

Wild West trigger and excellent CAS action job doesn't hurt...

It is a Marble, part number 009805.

Brownell has them for $133 retail, $92 wholesale.

Here's the Marble link.

May want to shop around, sometimes things pop up on EBay. But you gotta know your product and price or you could get snookered on Fleabay... shocked

I've seen a bidding war blow way beyond where it should have.
