About 15 years ago I started a tradition at work of Friday afternoon bbq’s before every long weekend of the summer. I always cook (only guy in an office of 20 women). Menu varies, sometimes burgers and dogs, sometimes sausage, sometimes kabobs, always tater chips cuz the women demand them. Lol
This year we haven’t had one yet because Covid. I decided to do one Tuesday for Canada Day. With all the social distancing and no groups more than 10 it’s turned into a chitshow. But it’ll be good to see some of the ladies that I haven’t seen in more than 3 months, except by video.
We won’t go anywhere on Canada Day but I’m picking up SD21 at her university house and she’ll come home for Slavyanka’s birthday (July 4). We’ll hit the beach on July 2 when it’s hopefully not so busy.
Important day to me. I really don't know what will happen in the future, I am an ardent Westerner , my family fought and died for Canada. I will honor them on Canada day. This nation cannot be measured by the foolishness in Ottawa.
wabigoon; Good afternoon to you sir, I hope that other than not being able to make it up to your summer fishing pilgrimage that this finds you and your fine family well.
Since it's in the middle of the week this year and because all of the local fireworks are suspended, it's most likely that my wife and I will get together with our nearest daughter and her husband and do a small cookout in the yard.
We usually try to head down to a town on the US border - Osoyoos - which spends upwards of $50,000 most years on their fireworks display. They do it out into the lake and some of the fireworks then explode under water which adds a whole different dimension to it for us.
This was to be the 25th anniversary and they'd been planning a really big display, but as I read they're now just saving up for next year and plan to add more.
All the best to you and yours this Canada Day sir and on the Fourth as well of course.
When Justin Trudeau talked about annexing the US, he said that he would move the new holiday to the 2nd or 3rd of July. I was confused about the reason why Justin said he wanted to take in the US. He said something about the number of COVID cases is far lower in Canada. By taking over the US, the number of cases would automatically drop. He also said that Prince Harry and the missus would be living in Canada again, in the province of California. It would make the Queen happy.
Speaking of trademarks, do they still make Smith Brothers cough drops with the pictures of the two brothers, and their names, "Trade" and "Mark" beneath them?
At some doings at the old Wabigoon hall, everyone jumped up on their feet when they put up the picture of the queen. I might have been five years old at that time.
