I haven't fired mine that much and used the, ugh, steel cased ammo that was shipped with the gun. - But an internet friend told me his ten round mag has a part time problem of not feeding the last round from a full mag? I don't know any other particulars. I have a different question for my gun. In reloading I ordered the classic 215 gr RN for my SMLE. Same NO4 MK I style rifle made into a pseudo scout. Is that rifling twist good? I figured it might have been fine as the guys pounding the trails with boots might find the 215 gr ammo issued to them. I haven't run a tight patch to see. Just thought I would ask the question before I load some? I can get other sizes but I go for long and heavy for caliber bullets for most guns. Steve R.? Be Well, Packy.

Steve, if i may interject, i remember my late brother working on the lips of the magazine on mine, but i imagine that would have been to address cartridges jumping out, but might it have anything to do with the last one feeding poorly?

Not usually. When the feed lips are messed up, nothing likes to feed properly.

Weak springs still work when they are compressed, but as the compression reduces, the cartridge isn't pushed up sufficiently to be properly chambered. It isn't sitting up, and at the correct angle for the bolt.

Wish i knew more about the 303 as i know it was widely used in Canada and has a rich history. My only real exposure to it is my 303 Ross rifle, but ive never actyally used it as ive got other stuff going on. Still the use and history are fascinating.

Sorry I missed this. Yes, the 1 in 10 twist is fine. The original loads, both bp and smokeless, used 215 gr. bullets. You're good to go. 🙂
