I have been on the phone twice with the doctor today. The interesting news is I get my first shot on Thursday.

Has anyone else received it?

I haven’t and don’t care to have an experimental drug which they didn’t do animal tests on. I don’t want to be a lab rat. 98% survival rate. You still can’t do anything without mask and lockdowns will never come off until them morons in the Liberal government are removed. Expect no change in your present life.

How many millions of people have had the shot now? That is testing.

It is.

Rumours and BS fly around the world on the Internet, Twitter, Instagram, magazines etc. You have to decide whether you are going to listen to some unqualified hack from a media outlet, or doctors. You have the right to decline the vaccination..

I did not post this looking for arguments. I think there are enough threads on other sections here, debating the merits or dangers. No one on this board is remotely qualified to criticize the shots, but that will not stop the "Internet know-it-alls" from passing judgment.

I was merely curious if anyone had been vaccinated yet. That's all

Not in the age group to get it yet, but will not rush to get it.

I know I’ll eventually have to, particularly now that Dear Leader has started to float the idea of a vaccine passport for travelling.

Maybe. Maybe not. The AstraZeneca vaccine has been pulled in many other countries because of problems but they are still giving it here. I work ambulance in a very small community, and no way Im taking it. They had two vaccination clinics about a month apart at the local community center. About a week or so after each clinic, our call volume went through the roof. Strokes and heart attacks. We had two deaths in one night. Im not qualified to say the vaccine caused these issues, but all of us on car found it very odd. Then theres the question of who's keeping track. Answer, nobody. They are watching for an allergic reaction, not strokes and heart attacks. We noticed it because we operate in a community of about 450 people. In a large city it might takes months before it became apparent something was amiss. The strange thing to me is the Astra vaccine is causing blood clots and bleeds, the same thing that causes strokes, which is what we are seeing. A good friend is in Vancouver right now recovering from a massive stroke after he got the Moderna vaccine. The long term affects are still unknown. For me the risk/reward just isnt there. I've already had covid and it was no big deal, much like it is for 98% plus of the people that get it.

If there was a contraceptive vaccine but after taking it you could still get pregnant, and you still had to wear a condom, would you still take it?? Thats how stupid this is.

Yukon

Well stated. I think those that work the field end of medical and those that have done a lot of haz mat training understand how weird all this is and don't understand the panic for such a really non issue disease. Given early treatment the survival rate of even old people is amazingly high.

What I never got was this was the ONLY disease I"ve ever heard of where you stay home until you just can't any more before you seek treatment.... lets see how well that would work with cardia/cerebral etc... events.

We are scheduled for next week and if we cannot get one particular vaccine then we will be passing until such time as we can.

I have had a number of friends working in Health Care that have been vaccinated (1st and 2nd dose) and all are fine. Close friends over 70 were vaccinated yesterday and they have not experienced any ill effects as of today. A number of people we know in seniors homes have gotten their shots and they are all fine. All of these people were with the Pfizer inoculation.

I got my first shot a week ago—Pfizer Vaccine
Initially shot hurt Ike hell, next day could feel where needle went in but not too sore.
I told a bunch of people that in the Army we got a bunch of shots with an air gun—I don’t think they believed me.
I didn’t mind the air gun but disliked the extra hour of PT we got every Thursday during Basic.

My wife got her shot on Saturday and mine was the next day. She had a bit of sore arm for 2 days but only noticeable when pressure was applied. It is now okay. I had no problems at all except a bit of a twinge if I lay on that arm. Our ages are 83 and 84.

We are booked to get our second shots in July (4 months). Don't know how much protection we will have until after the second shot.

The air gun thing worked well unless the medic didn't get the nozzle firmly against the skin before he pulled the trigger. Mine fired just before contact and blew a pretty good hole in my skin. Bled all over. I probably didn't get the full benefit of the shot since some must have run down my arm. I don't see how the covid shot should be any different than a flu shot but then, I've never gotten one of those either. I figure they are mostly for old folks. GD

Your protection kicks in at roughly 2 weeks increasing to about 80% in 4 weeks. But at 80% and you are the unlucky 20%, you stay out of hospital at the worst. Give or take a day or a few %.

Here in BC, I'm looking forward to end of May or beginning of June.

There are things for which, due to my lifestyle, I would love to see vaccines against and some for which I have been vaccinated. A vaccine against Lyme's disease would be wonderful and I would sign right up. I wish we could figure out the cause of tick paralysis and vaccinate against that. I'm happy to have been vaccinated against tetanus. I am thankful everyday for the polio vaccine and I'm thrilled we don't have small pox. I don't care about HIV since the chances of me contracting that are virtually nil. I've had all the childhood diseases and suffered no ill effects. The Chinese Covid virus has been around for a year and not only have I not caught it, those I know who have, were not that badly affected. So, I may get vaccinated at some point but I don't feel any pressing concern. My risk is low and my immune system seems to work OK. GD.

Thanks for being a guinea pig, Steve!

I'm sure I will get it eventually, simply because travel will be impossible without it, and I like to travel.

But, no one is going anywhere right now, I'm working from home, I'm in a very low risk region and, frankly, I don't qualify for it, yet, though I probably will sooner than others in my age group due to medical conditions.

Still not going to rush into it. And yes, I do get the flu shot, every years, particularly since the flu almost killed me in 1996, by indirect complications.

No problem. smile Stay safe.

Some of what I've read about the COVID shots at different websites reminded me of when I was in the service. My favourite service rumour was Pierre Trudeau's government mind control. You get so many shots that you stop caring and this is how the the senior Trudeau was going to control you. They manipulated our DNA. laugh

Some folks think it's the Russian government. They are going to take over N. America by programming us using the COVID vaccine. Or just kill us off.
Some say it's Biden's administration. A take off of the Putin thing. It's all about programming.
I have read that it's aliens, extremist groups from the Middle East, Bill Gates, Donald Trump and several others.

The world is whacked, but it was whacked long before the COVIDs showed up! crazy

Wife and I both got the two shots of Moderna, with the second shot almost a month ago now. Both of us are in fairly high risk category. I had a slightly sore arm for one day after the second shot and her arm was quite sore for two days after the second shot. Otherwise, we've had no detectable after effects thus far.

We decided to split the difference as to what getting the shot signifies: so one of us is a blithering idiot who cannot think on his own and the other a sainted martyr for the cause of prudence and community health. There is no room for being a reasonable person who made a thoughtful choice based on credible information and our specific health conditions. Not on the Campfire anyway! grin

My wife got hers the other day. No issues. Second shot in 3-4 months. Was told I can get mine in a few weeks. Other than age I'm not sure why I have to wait as I am diabetic.
I don't have any concerns with getting the shot. I have had so many vaccinations during my life that have me asking, "What's one more?" I received stuff as a kid in the early 70's prior to moving to Turkey then during my 26 years career in the Canadian Armed Forces. I think the quality controls today, even wrt the Covid vaccine, are much better than they were in 1972 regarding manufacturing etc.
I was a Medic my entire career, the square needle treatment was reserved for guys who pizzed off the Medics LOL. Did Cornwallis in Sept-Nov 79. Needle parade then brutal PT sucked!

Booked mine today ! Lemmings r’Us !

I’ve been Type 2 diabetic for about 17 years, recently adding slow insulin pokes to my regimen of oral meds.
Not sure if that makes me Type1 or not, but it changed nothing with my vaccine scheduling !

Age is the single biggest risk factor for negative outcomes with Covid 19.

Variants are my concern. I’m hoping the 4 month booster addresses them.

Good Luck All !

I think you're still a T2. A few friends had long acting added to their nighttime regimen to keep their blood sugar regulated overnight.

WRT the shot, he doctor told me that she wasn't sure when the second shot would happen, but that my family doctor's office would call. It's been three days, and no ill effects. I was concerned that my arm might ache, but it didn't. I'll be off to the range during the week coming.

My wife and I got out first shots of Pfizer this morning. No soreness in the arm or side effects.

The pharmacist said it could be up to 4 months for the 2nd shot. When I questioned the increased separation beyond the manufactures test data he said there is not much that can be done as supply is the issue and they are trying to get ahead of an increasing number of infections from variants -- so essentially trying to stop another wave.

Untold millions of people worldwide are letting strangers that they don’t know and mad scientists that want to depopulate the earth inject them with substances that they know nothing about. Count me in! It doesn’t matter that all other vaccines took years to develop, the Covid shots are a product of operation “warp speed”; Trump and “Q” told me so, so it’s the real deal! I trust “the Plan”! After my endless rounds of vaccines for a virus that has a 98% survivability rate, I will finally be able to get together with small groups of family/friends (although 6’6’6’ social distancing and triple masks and hand sanitizing stations are just common sense for our backyard BBQ)! After my Bill Gates gene and DNA alteration I will finally feel like I am included with my clueless fake friends. I will finally be in lock-step with all the Hollywood celebrities and politicians that I adore and venerate! Maybe if I comment on their Twitter account they will reply to me!

Agreed on the politics. The Liberal government has really let Canadians down and has cost lives with their actions / inactions. Now the media is supporting the notion that one shot for everyone by July means that Trudeau kept his promise. What a pile of horse turds --- vaccination means complete of the 2 shot regime unless you get J&J which is not yet approved for use in Canada. On the evidence that it will or will not help with variants a person is better off doing their own research on this --- which vaccine was tested in which country and when, which countries are using or not using which vaccine --- it is a roll of the dice but there is information out there if you look, weed through all the gibberish and do not pay attention to the media. Read the medical papers even ones that have not yet been peer reviewed.

Yes agreed on everything.

My estimation is that the Pfizer-BioNTech is the way to go if you have a choice.

Yes I like the ‘all vaccinated’ narrative. No 1/2 vaccinated. Maybe less depending on how well the interval works, or doesn’t.

It is what it is

Interesting question --- lets go the risk analysis route.

Dog

My dog is a hunting dog and is in the field a lot. So exposures to ticks, parasites, fleas, cuts that get infected -- are all common. As are exposures to speargrass, foxtail, tussles with muskrats, mice, squirrels (all ending badly for the rodent) and exposure to thorns (Buffalo berry being the worst so far) and toxic weeds. So I value my dog and keep him on shots and meds for deworming, ticks, fleas, rabies, do physical inspections after every outing and do routine follow ups with the vet on his health. If my dog was not an active field dog I would knowingly pull back on his shots as the risks would be lower.

Me

I am older, have had polio in my back which affects lung capacity, have a heart condition that requires management, have a history of cancer in the family, have a history of re-occurring pneumonia and have doctors that have recommended certain courses of action for me to manage my lifestyle risks. One of the recommendations from my heart specialist was to get vaccinated. So risk management says I am in the categories that would be susceptible to problems should I catch the virus. Now if I was younger and in good health my decision would be more like our children who are choosing to be lifestyle safe and watch for a bit longer.

So this decision is a personal one everyone has to make on their own. I am not pushing my views down on our kids --- make them aware of information and where to do good research then they can make their own decision based on the risks in their lives.

No. It was directed at everyone who wants to spin this into something it is not. I asked a simple question.

There are several threads on this site that suggest alterior motives to the vaccine and COVID. Those are other posts. Mine was a simple question.

I hoped to find out who got their shots.

My satire gave you my answer. I do not respond to ultimatum “yes or no” questions. That is a mind control tactic that has been used for centuries. It gives the interrogators leeway to incriminate the respondents, since they have no opportunity to say anything but a one word answer that are absolutes. Almost nothing is absolute, and requires further elaboration. I apologize if I confused anyone

The theory with the spacing, the larger number that get the shot the fewer deaths and hospitalizations . With even one, they are finding no serious illness or deaths. It's effective at an 80% level, compared to a 95% level.

One of the girls administering the program whereby I got my first shot said they couldn’t get enough Pfizer vaccine to administer the second shots on time and will call me when it becomes available. Evidently they don’t want to mix the vaccines. I read earlier in the month that you shouldn’t mix vaccines.
I then read yesterday that it would be beneficial to mix the vaccines.
I called the border yesterday to enquire about quarentine when I return from the states next week. I was asked by the CBP why I was traveling to the states. I told them I have a sister with a heart condition in her seventies I would like to visit her and go to the VA hospital in Mpls to get my hearing aids.
I was told I shouldn’t travel as that was a non-essential reason.
I told him I didn’t think his job was very essential either.

Since the "availability" of shots is limited to a very small % of the populace currently, perhaps your's was a loaded, "simple" question ?

Yes, I've noticed that too. More people want the shots in Canada than in the US, at least, according to the news. I'm glad to hear that you are still in one piece. laugh

I think a lot of people talk like they won't get inoculated, but will. The Internets and the Campfire resemble a high school smoking area. laugh

Not an anti-vaccer but I'm not going to get an unnecessary shot which will change my lifestyle not at all; not without some pretty compelling evidence. On the other hand, I can certainly understand why some would want to. Now, if getting a vaccine means I can travel to visit my daughter and grandchildren, I'll think it over. If getting the shot means I can start travelling to shoots again. I'll give it some thought. So far, neither of those seem likely. Apart from these things, my lifestyle is unchanged. I don't go to bars or restaurants. I don't like crowds. I live in a semi-remote place. Nobody I know has covid so I can visit them if I wanted to (which mostly I don't). Just not seeing the reason to do it. GD

My wife and I got our second two weeks ago and came to Vermont Monday to visit our GC, daughter and her husband. FWIW I think it’s definitely worth it, Got measles and mumps back in the day.
I know 6 people who have died from covid and dozens who got it and it ain’t fun. A friend is an infectious disease doc in Florida and he and his wife got the vac.

My cousin E-mailed me " I 'm in !" He is younger than me, but with medical problems.. You could read the relief in his email.. Because each province sets it's own criteria , across the country the vaccinations are uneven. In BC this week, it's born in 1948.

I see that Ontario Conservative Premier Doug Ford just received his first Covid 19 vaccine shot.

He made a point of staging the event as a very public photo opportunity with the media.

Obviously he and his Conservative government staunchly defend their Covid19 measures and lock down.

So, does that mean that the Conservatives are also just a bunch of morons with a fake agenda that need to be removed?

Or, are the anti-vaxers and covid19 conspiracy theorists the morons?
Posted By: 1OntarioJim Re: COVID shot - 04/09/21
The publicity revolved around the fact he received the Zenaka vaccine. This is the one around which there has been controversy due to occasional cases of blood clotting. A lot of people are afraid of it for this reason and I believe the government is trying to remove this fear. The deputy premier also got this vaccine a few weeks ago and it was televised.

Freedom .Freedom, the starting words from a song in the '60s. Those were the words going through my head yesterday after I got the shot. Freedom from dying ,or worse, long hauling and from having a hospital stay. While after 4 weeks, anyway. Mildly stiff and sore arm for an hour yesterday and I slept in this morning.. It was the Pfizer.

Repost
Had it 3 weeks after both shots couple days pretty rough sinus drainage and bad flu symptoms. Had pneumonia several times before far worse, which is why I took the shots regret doing that now.

Tried in vain to convince wife not to take the shots, but she too second shot got up middle of the night for advil, passed out on falling head hit the gas stove knocked gas knob off and went back to bed. I got up and rechecked stove was still on and not lit! Just came home from a hunting trip who knows what would have happened had I not been home.

If I had a do over would never had taken the shots!

Posted By: George_De_Vries_3rd Re: COVID shot - 04/13/21
The anti-vacc’rs people were not all stupid or conspiracy nuts...even before this past year. But the events of 2020 have done more to cause distrust in all things government and medicine than any others in the modern past.

Take statistics that have been spun, governors that have become little Henry the Vlll clones, conflicting messages and lies from the media, anecdotes that don’t add up, and physicians that do not agree on medications with which to treat COVID-19. Some of it contrary to experience or evidence elsewhere.

Add making vaccines that normally require a four or five year process and truncating the whole thing to one year, abbreviating or leaving out some testing steps. And depending on your sources, add about half of frontline health care workers who declined being vaccinated.

Then there are the vaccines themselves and the horrible or fatal responses, whether statistically significant or not, that impress us by their nasty nature. There is the question of fetal material in the J&J vax, and mRNA in the Moderna one, the propriety or safety of which are reasonably questioned.

As an exclamation point, here in the US, add the utter incompetence or evil or both of the new administration, displayed in just a brief three and a half months, added to that party’s lawless response across the nation since last March.

If trust in government could now be measured on the Bell Curve in real time, in the US, it would be low and on the right hand side..

For example see the US’ New Medicine: https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/insanity-of-woke-medicine/.

I am confused with the US sometimes. No one trusts the media, yet many people quote the media to make their point(s). From what I have seen around here at least, folks seem to cherry pick who they believe. I don't mean Dems vs Republicans. I mean stuff like medical statistics, certain newspapers, magazines and other sources.

Edited to add: I spent a lot of time in the US when I was in the service. The NRA was trusted. Many of the major newspapers. Even, dare I say it, CNN back in their early days. It seems that people, regardless of political affiliation are less trusting of their governments and institutions. It often seems like if you do not believe what I say, then you are my enemy. Opinions are polarized, with no middle ground. What happened?

“Trust the experts”, “Trust the science”, “Trust the vaccine”, are catch phrases that we have been conditioned with since childhood by MSM. Interesting fact though: the same people pushing these fake “vaccines” on the world believe that cow farts ruin the ozone, we should all eat lab-grown meat, churches should remain closed but abortion clinics and gay bathhouses remain open, we should wear masks and social distance for eternity, fossil fuels are destroying the world, firearms should be banned, we need open borders, conservatives need to be “re-programmed”, and the worlds population needs to be thinned down to a “sustainable level”, from 7 billion to 500 million. Psychopath Bill Gates has a way to accomplish the last point: “vaccines”! 🤔 1+1=? Welcome to the surreal dystopian reality that is the New World Order

Only go to the doc for a broken bone or stitches that I can’t mend myself. Flu? Colds? Nope.

If you really thoroughly researched the Dems (and lots of Republicans) and found out how despicably evil, psychopathic, and degenerate they are, I have no doubt you would wish them harm. They are carrying out a long-planned, well thought out, and precisely planned genocide of the world’s population that will be unlike any other catastrophic event in history. The suffering and death that’s coming will drive most normal people insane just to grasp the horror of it. These world leaders and politicians are demented, ruthless murderers, pedophiles and rapists. They have absolutely no conscience and are wicked to the core.

American distrust of the left is purely defensive,....as is about everything else that Caucasian Americans engage in these days.

Of course not. All wrongs will be made right in the hereafter. There will be perfect justice.

As to “what went wrong?” It was pervading humanism with no moral absolutes and thus the ruling elites’ arbitrary rules, commands, dictates, and laws all of which can be changed tomorrow as expediency demands. It is the weight of oppression directed downward that demands obeisance to the ruling class.

All of which, here, we are moving toward at a furious pace.

No, not really; but a manipulative totalitarianism, yes, or as Rod Dreher of The American Conservative, puts it, “a Soft Totalitarianism” with a corporate-political-social media axis controlling behavior.

We are seeing the beginning now with the rapid rise of “Wokism.”

Edit: but I am an optimist as to the future. 😉

You got that exactly right. Our Creator has promised it. That is one of the few things that give me comfort in this sick, twisted world: the wicked will not go unpunished. Perfect equity and justice is awesome to look forward to, since it is almost nonexistent in this life!

Of course there are doctors Americans trust. Lots of them. Its kind of like global warming, the MSM has it drilled into the masses that its "settled science." Nothing could be further from the truth. Since the beginning of global warming there have been thousands of world class scientists who disagreed with the narrative. With covid, its even worse. The censorship is unbelievable, but there have been some very good doctors trying to get the truth out for a long time. They have had to fight MSM and big tech every step of the way. Watch the following video just for kicks....would you suggest this bunch are uneducated or loony ?? How anyone can just dismiss what they have to say, and the data they provide, is beyond me.

I hope you and others remain optimistic. It sure beats the alternative. The impression I get is that the US is in a funk and has been for four or five years. You need to focus on something positive and righteous. And oddly, Oddball was played by Canadian actor, Donald Sutherland.

Ultimately, we as Christians do not rely on prime ministers, emperors, dictators, or American presidents, including political parties; that is, beyond our civic responsibilities. At least that’s my view. Of course that doesn’t rule out concern, or granting or writing opinions, always working toward telling the truth.

Ready, fire, aim;..Steve, my apologies. That isn't the article I intended to post but it does express some of my sentiments.

Couple tested positive here last summer. He works for Nutrien when he had cold symptoms at work he was tested, positive. Bad cold/flu for 2-3 days. She works at the vet clinic. Told me she had zero symptoms although she tested positive as well.

This is one of the great inestimable costs, among many others that families and the elderly pay for isolation.

My mother died at 94 a couple of weeks ago with a year of barely seeing her and minimal communication. Though she was in a very good nursing home with excellent care, no family was allowed in her room until just before she passed.
Posted By: BC30cal Re: COVID shot - 04/14/21
George;
Please accept my sincere condolences on your Mom's passing. You and the friends and family left behind are in my thoughts and prayers.

While I'm reluctant to say to anyone at any time that I would begin to know how you feel, we lost my much loved Mom in law last May and still haven't had a memorial service for her as inter provincial travel isn't encouraged and some of the family aren't physically close.

One of the toughest things on my good wife was the restrictions for visiting her Mom during the last days. It was tough to say the least.

Those who have said that we're going to be tallying up the cost of this for years to come with regards to the toll it's taken on us mentally were - in my view - spot on.

I'm reluctant to type more in point of fact as it's a bit too close to home for me personally. It's tough to be objective when I've seen the damage it's caused, you know?

Again, sincere condolences and know you all are in my prayers.

Dwayne

Yesterday I talked with a couple of clients from Ont. that were booked with us this summer. They said rural property in Ont. is at a premium right now. Two reasons they gave was people just wanting to get out of the city and craziness, and since covid happened many have figured out ways to work from home so they can live anywhere.

Sorry to hear that George. It won't make it easier, but you are not alone. My father died last May in palliative care. No one was allowed to see him until a day or so before the end. My step mother was the only one allowed in, the day before his passing. He had been there for a few months and the best we could manage was talking on the phone.

COVID protocols affect more than just those afflicted by it.
---

WRT rural properties, we have seen people who were locked down in the GTA drive north and spread COVID for hundreds of kilometers. This was happening long before the latest lockdown. Millions of people packed into a small space were part of the problem.
