A club member and friend of mine decided to end it all midweek. He shot himself and wasn't found for a couple of days. No one knows why yet, or if he left a note. It's too early to know. He has two grown children, but was divorced. Mercifully, he did not do it in the house.
Sometimes, you get thrown a curve. Like they say, give your loved ones a hug. It could be the last time you see them.
I had a friend do that a few years ago. He had some sort of demons haunting him. He was an old soul type of guy. Quiet, good horseman and top hunting guide.
He even went to South America like three times to use Ayahuasca trying to cope with his mind. I did not know he did that until after his death.
It still bothers me since I have no answers to questions.
Sorry for your loss.
Sorry to hear this. RIP Sir. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
I heard it put "Just do something to end the pain." Sorry for yours and his kids loss.
Steve, I've lost a couple of friends the same way and it always seems a waste. Plainly they saw no way to continue on. In one case, It was not unexpected but the other was. GD
Steve, that is terrible news indeed. Condolences to his family and friends. One never really knows the pain folks suffer that brings them take their lives.
Hug your family and reach out to your friends often. As a Medic, I had to deal with the aftermath.
Take care,
Jeff

Thanks to all. The position of handgun director is cursed, I believe.
In 2004, the handgun director was a recently retired university professor. A psychologist. Over the years, he spent countless hours volunteering at the club and acting as a handy man. He retired in June and was dead in August. A massive heart attack took him out at 65.
His successor was a fellow in his early 40s. He lasted about three years and lymphoma took him out. The last person shot himself on the downstairs range. The first two fellows were in good shape physically, but diseases don't care. The last fellow had mental health issues, I guess.
The club president and I had a conversation on the weekend about what happened. It comes just before the nominations close for next year's board and executive. The AGM is the first week of October. It happens that the person who shot himself had many of the files and nomination forms. He was also chairing the nomination committee. It will get sorted out in short order, but there are some concerns.
His daughters are devastated. Some of us who knew him are confused. There were no warning signs or anything. It will be awhile before we learn anything.
If the liberals would stop harassing handgun owners these things wouldn't happen.
sorry to hear about your friend Steve, prayers for his girls .
and may the liberal government fail.
Tragic indeed! Only God really knows what's going on inside a person. Prayer sent for his daughters... and a hope that some insight of "why?" will come to light sooner than later for the health and help of any who may need it.

Thanks Bob. He had some inner demon that he was fighting. Unfortunately, no one knew, so no one could offer help.
Steve, Bill here. I know you belong to a couple off clubs. Curious if it is the orillia club and someone I know? If ya get a chance I'd appreciate a note if ya don't mind. Thanks GWP. πΎπ£π¨π¦

Hi Bill. No, it wasn't the Orillia club. For whatever reason, the information has not been released. It could be nature of his death or perhaps the family hasn't released it to the paper.
