The 70 grain Sierra initial loads are about 3000 fps and group well for a first go. It looks like the sweet spot for this barrel is between 2900 and 3000 fps. I think I will try playing with IMR 4198, Benchmark and AA2015 to see if I can get better groups. These were the best 5 shot groups of what I tried. The weather was great. Light winds.

And the tourists aren't on the roads as much since school started! Orillia had a regular amount of traffic. As much as tourism is important around here, you get weary of all the boats and trailers on the highways and roads.

My rifle didn't like Win 748.

And three shots to sight in my Contender.

I had great success with 4895 (IMR or H) and a 70 Sierra. A compressed load of either powder worked great. H322 was also very good. I would expect 2015 to do well.
I hear ya, re. the tourists. Post Labour Day is the best time of the year. GD

Hi. IMR4895 is part of my next next test batch. I think it should be a contender. I can pack it to the gunnels with no pressure worries. smile
