Where are you getting your molds?

I have had mine for years. Wholesale Sports has a small selection in their Winnipeg store. t least this last summer they did.

Nothing fancy here. Wholesale Sports for LEE molds. Did get one Lyman for my 405 Winchester. It casts nice bullets, takes a lot longer to warm the mold, but the bullets are very uniform. The Lee ones I have used make nice bullets as do a couple of RCBS ones I have. Living up here in the hinterland it gets a little more difficult to find them.

I've only bothered with one mold myself - a 310 gr. made by Lee. As you may have guessed, I can't be bothered with casting. I start, but lose interest quickly. I've done well by the Bullet Barn. Nonetheless, I'll have to look around.

Try a site called castbullets, also a company called LBT makes custom molds and ships up here.

I'm a member over at castboolits.com A very informative place! Lots to be learned there. I guess we don't have the businesses up here that produce molds and casting equipment for shooters.

I know that there are a number of US businesses most castboolit members recommend, including Ranch Dog and NOE.

Another vote for www.castboolits.gunloads.com They've got lots of info, great group of guys, pretty much ZERO trolls, and a great classifieds sections.

Excellent site. NEI makes among the best molds if you are a serious rifle shooter.
Bone stock Ruger 77 @ 100, 3 shot group, with unshot bullet and one recovered from a clay berm at 300 yards. At 1800 fps it would kill anything in the lower 48.

I have picked up original molds for many Winchester/Savage/Marlin calibers over the years by watching gunshow tables. Durng the black powder craze I bought lyman double cavity RB molds (.440/.445/.490/.495)which worked like a charm but now gather dust.
However, a friend that I often cast bullets with had health problems which were traced to lead accumulation in his system.
At that point I quit casting and my molds now constitute a collection rather than working group.
At that time Elwood Epps offered some great bullets already cast/sized/lubricated/gas checked (in most calibers) but the individual that cast them has since given up the business.
Is there a quality supplier of cast bullets in Ontario?

Steve; Accurate Molds in Utah make superior moulds and delivery is prompt. Also. the group buys from NOE over at castboolits are worth following as they are making a good product. NEI was once considered very good and I have a couple but since Walt died I have heard QC has slipped. Can't confirm that myself as one I got post Walt is an excellent mould. RCBS is pretty good and Lyman is so-so these days. Both these latter are liable to cast slightly smallish in their bullet diameters but that isn't hard and fast either. I'm not a fan of Lee but their 6 cavity moulds are decent with some prep work before using. I do have the Lee Magnum Melter which is the same pot as you referred to sans the bottom pour. I only use it to keep molten metal ready to ladle into my RCBS pot as it is diminished.

To be honest, all I've ever looked at was Lee and whatever was on the tables at gun shows. I'll have to spend some time checking out these other places.

I've had a look at the various companies. Accurate molds seem to have a lot of options and molds available. They are pricier than the others, but it appears that you'll get exactly what you want.

Steve: You will note Accurate Molds does not show the main bullet body diameter in their catalogue. That is so you can soecify the diameter that suits your gun. Slugging bores is a must to take advantage of that choice. Every time a shooter generates a new design that becomes a new entry in the catalogue as a link to his computer driven machinery.

Yes, I saw that. I followed the sequence to build a mold and got a feel of the process. I noted that he prefers that customers contact him with their intentions, so he can assist in the build.

I've got one Lee. a couple of NEI's, some Lyman's. one Saeco, a few LBT's and one from Paul Jones. There are no issues with shipping moulds up here, just got two LBT's last fall. Prophet River may have some Saeco's,he'd likely order anything else you want also. And there is KAL tool & die in Wpg making paper patch moulds.

I'll have to compile a list of mold makers and put them up at my site.
