How are things looking for Whitetail deer hunting in Alberta this season?
I guess it looks fantastic...lol
Season opens tomorrow for most areas of the province. Northern areas have opened earlier.
The past winter was softer than usual, and a warm spring should help boost the young populations. We also had an early snow at the beginning of Oct so a lot of grain crops are still standing, which will help out the deer as well.
That all said, 4 of the past 5 winters have been pretty hard on the deer populations. Numbers should be up this year, but I'm thinking the number of trophy animals won't be for a few more years. Always exceptions to the rule though.
SS
Southern Alberta is currently very warm for this time of year. Deer will be seeking daytime shade.
Thank you, awesome hunt with super cool folks.... can't wait to get back there!!
Any recommendations on a good guide service for Alberta deer season.
