We have been wide open with no bag limits on wolves for the last few years in the Cariboo region. Wolves are hard to specifically hunt but I do manage to shoot a few each year as "incidental" kills while targeting other animals or out fishing or cutting firewood.

The only truly effective way to kill wolves - other than poison - is to shoot them from a helicopter which the ministry of environment does undertake from time to time in our area.

A former BCF&W predator control officer I know said hunting wolves from helicopters was costly and ineffective. Generally speaking, I believe what he says. GD

Seriously??? Are you aware of what Alaska has done in the last few years?? There are many examples across the state to look at but just look at one. The 40-mile caribou herd. Don't remember what the exact numbers were when they started but they were low. Fast forward a few years of Arial gunning and that herd is in great shape. A fellow on here that goes by Vern can give you the particulars but there is no doubt that it is effective....very effective. Alaska uses fixed wing, and private individuals do the gunning so its pretty economical. Choppers are costly, I will give you that, but your friend is wrong about it being ineffective.
