Brave Canadian forces fought in the invasion of Normandy. British, and French as well as Americans

In the early 70’s at Branch 32 Canadian Legion in Nipigon—free drinks for all veterans on 2 days of the year —Nov 11 and June 6th. We had several members who where on Juno Beach.

Uncle Andy was on the first wave, had a funny story about that. Dad was later, storms kept them from landing.

And I just read the Canadians captured more land and secured it than the Americans. Kudos.

We owe these men everything we've ever had or ever knew...

They were green troops, they had to learn on the job. That news reel clip of nonchalant troops landing into the village were Canadians.

We are approaching the 77th anniversary in a week.

Unfortunately, we seem to be moving away from people with these convictions. A clip on another thread has some idiot brat commenting that "Memorial Day just celebrates American imperialism." Wonder how he would like speaking German to whoever the new Fuhrer would be (Trudeau, Biden, Obozo?). I do not regret the 24 years I spent in the Air Force, but I am getting to be of the opinion that there is about half of our country (maybe Canada too) that I would not fight and die for - they are worthless wretches that really do not deserve the sacrifice that has been made by too many gallant and brave souls.

Let them learn to speak Chink then....the communist version...

like John Cena recently for example...apologizing in Manderen for calling Taiwan a country...

These millennials have no friggen clue, if they think socialism or communism is "Cool".

Push come to shove, you get rid of the enemy within....

we truly live in a nation of idiots, I pray the same is not in Canada, but I have my doubts..

Well said^^^^^^both Seafire and deltakid.
After the contribution I see our Canadian forefathers have made, I see other's within our Country wiping their feet on their valiant and courageous effort. My Grandfather was 17 in the 1st, and 40 when he went overseas again for the 2nd.

Its important to know who the enemy is and expose them as such.

I cannot seem to find any national commemorative events for D Day in Canada. I know when I was still in uniform, we had parades on 6 June. You can go to www.junobeach.org for a read.
