I'm considering purchasing one of these programs and tho't I'd ask if anyone seriously compared these 2 programs side-by-side?

Pros and Cons? Price goes to Load from a Disc
Beyond that I don't know much about either one.
LFD is simpler for some, easier to use and more limited.
QL is much, much more more complex, more flexible, more demanding.

All things considered, I use QL often, LFD almost never.

YMMV
Thanks...

Does QuickLoad have some of the newer powders from Western Powders included in their database?

In QL v3.4 (latest 2008 version): Ramshot Zip, Silhouette, True Blue, Enforcer, X-Terminator, TAC, Big Game, Hunter, Magnum (formerly Big Boy).
I just got QL - haven't even had a chance to install it yet. I like LFD, and have used it for years. It has limitations in powder choices (you cannot pick a powder and let it calculate loads) but does generate usable data for several selected powders. It might be all the average guy needs.

But I plan to do a software review like the one I did several years ago for TVHM. I'll compare QL and LFD. I'll also look at external ballistic programs such as Sierra Infinity and Oehler Ballistic Explorer.

Stay tuned.
Thanks.

I need to play around with that TAC powder in loads that I am certain will never be found in any book....and I have no idea even where to start. The Ramshot manual doesn't have anything even close, nor do I expect them to...have it. (Still working on that whole ending a sentence without preposition thing.)
Hmmm, Where does one find the QL v3.4? I can only find 3.3 on the Neconos.com site.

Thanks, Bob

I got QL version 3.4 from Hartmut Brmel at the SHOT Show (NECO booth) several days ago. I assume that whatever you get from NECO now is going to be v3.4, irrespective of what www.neconos.com may say.
I called NECO and ordered their latest and greatest. He assured me that I would receive V3.4.

Looking forward to tinkering with it.

Thanks.
I called Neco today and asked if it would be worth upgrading to v3.4 - I have 3.3 - and was told probably not.
The v3.4 powder database does include the new Hodgdon Hybrid 100v.
He promised to email me the numbers to append to my data file.

Cheers, Bob
QuickLoad also plays well with QuickDesign, so you can create a new wildcat in QD, suck the data over to QL and look at loads and performance right there.

I haven't tried LRD so can't compare the two
