I got a local farm store that I shop at and I need a new training collar for my 40lb britt...

My options are.

DT Systems Master Retriever 1100 with a 1100 yard range... or,

SportDOG Brand SportHunter 825X with a range of 880 yards.

Anyone have any experience in which brand is better ?
I can't compare the both brands, but I used a Sportdog collar for years with no issues.
Never used DT but have been using the Sport Dog Tek 2.0 GPS collars for about 5 years and have had no issues. Probably cant go wrong with either one. Might want to go to the Gun Dog Supply website and read their reviews on e collars. Might find some good information.
I am looking for a Garmin Alpha 100 track and train

Of those I’d go DT. I had a SportDog that didn’t last.

I now use Garmin/TriTronics. Dogtra is also good.
Garmin/Tritronics is what I use. It's the industry standard.
Never used a DT but I have used a Sportdog and they’ve been holding up for a little over 3 years and still going strong

I made the switch from TriTronics/Garmin to Dogtra and couldn’t be happier. I have the T&B Dual for my britts

I'm on my third Garmin/TriTronics. Afraid I can't get used to the dogtra transmitter. Plus my bride likes the lights on the Garmin's when she has the dogs by herself. Easy to turn on the lights and find the dogs in the dark.

For the OP, I wouldn't get too hung up on yards/miles. If you can't see the dog, you can't properly correct it, in my opinion.

Go to Gun Dog Supply read the reviews. Also good for price checking as they have free shipping in the US.

There are a lot of options out there now for features on collars. Good to review and check to your priorities and how you hunt.

I just picked up a Dogtra T&B Dual -The priorities for me were a tone - locate function, 2 dog and range.

The lights are popular here too.
I use a Mini Educator at the suggestion of the trainer I use. I haven't had any issues, it has a 1/2 mile range and has worked perfectly so far. It also has vibrate and shock capability, along with a light. (I like the light feature a lot).

Did the same, feel the same.

The Collar Clinic [collarclinic.com, (231) 947-2010] is another good source of information and might be better informed as to which brand(s) most frequently need repair.

I agree on not getting hung up too much on distances. I can see a dog a log way in N Dakota - but not far in a WI or MI clearcut. For me, as long as I can transmit 1/2 mile I think I'd be good.

Re above reply: I have avoided a combo (ecollar control / GPS unit) out of fear of losing both capabilites if the batteries or something goes wrong with the unit. But have also never run into anyone who has had that problem.

Gonna sell the Alpha 100 transmitter for $450. Going to keep my mini collars and buy the 550 plus transmitter. Alpha never even turned on. Comes with blaze orange case and charging accessories. 573-243-1947

Garmin Sport Pro. Lights and a long battery life. Breeder runs them and knows of only one that had to go in for servicing. Reasonably priced, to boot,
