Anyone use it? Having to start an older Lab on it today.... loading dose 2x a week for a month... then once every 1-3 weeks (as needed) for a maintenance dose... is this the same schedule yall use?

I've used over the counter glucosamine and condroitin pills and fish oil capsules with my dogs for 20 years or so. For the first month they get two glucosamine and two fish oil tablets in their food in the morning and evening then I cut back to one of each at each meal.

Generally they get started on it around 9-10 years old due to age and work though I had one started on it at 2 years of age due to his OFA coming back as moderately dysplastic (he hunted until 12 and had to be put down due to pneumonia complications) and another was started on it at 6 years due to spinal problems. He was put down at 10 due to pain. The other half dozen dogs lived and hunted to varying degrees from 12-14 years old.

Probably more important is keeping extra weight off your dog, regular excersize, and some strengtheningand/or agility programs. My dogs get to run loose while I walk a couple of miles most days coupled with swimming in the lake through most of the open water season. At the very least they get to chase a Frisbee around the yard playing fetch. That is my 10 year old setter's favorite conditioning activity I think, if not it is a very close second to running the fields.

Check with your vet for some conditioning or agility excersizes for your dog. It certainly won't hurt and likely will help your dog's condition.

We have two Labs on it.
It’s like some of the other preventatives, where you might not see a difference. But if your dog is maintaining then it’s doing the job.
That is the dosing schedule that we use.
