We don't have an ongoing thread with DOG pictures??? Just dogs, or dogs in action. I know I never get sick of looking at dogs. All breeds any breeds, mutts, I love stories about dogs. Plus when ya know someone it's even better, & we all kind of know each other some what. It's like going to the races when ya know someone that's competing, nice to cheer them on. Evnin gents, Ribka, is that a Visla? Had one years ago & him along with any I've seen are slimmer looking, he looks like a healthy specimen almost houndish . I like heavier dogs, they can't run as hard as the lite small boned dog but they just look better more stocky. I'm older & (more stocky) now to so don't cover as much ground anymore either so it works for me. Keep em coming guys this gets better every day!!! Bill out. 🐾👣🐾👣🇨🇦

You asked for some pics. Decided to show the two pairs of GWPs I have had over the past two decades. First pair have been gone for over 6 years. Current pair are now 3 and 6 yrs old. So many adventures and so quickly the time passes.

Not offended. He was big and athletic for the breed. My wife found him at a breeder and wanted him. He didn't have the best breeding, had seizures but turned out to be a great dog and lived a long time. It took about 3 years to get him fully trained. The first year he became gun shy for some reason and took a lot to recondition him.

Love the griffs and often clownish and goofy the ones I have had were all business hunting. I always try and get my dogs on as many wild birds ass possible the first 3 years of their lives. Looking at picking up a pudle pointer this summer and talking to different breeders.

I have a rare Pasture Pudel Pointer

Pasture pointers count to, my first dog was a collie mix. Best cow dog ever!!! Only reason we went to get cows was to open & close the gates. By the time we got back to the barn Dad had them all tied up & was milking already. Farm dogs are amazing, some of the best ones are mutts. Bill out. 🐾👣🐾👣🇨🇦

Afternoon guys & gals, rule #1 don't brag up yer own shootn. Rule #2 don't brag up yer own dog. Rule #3 don't brag up the spot or pond that yer taking a buddy to. You will shoot poorly, the dog will surely flub up the point, or retrieve. The pond that had 2000 blue bill's last weak will have maybe 2 two mud hens & one old blue heron. True???. Bill out. 🐾👣🇨🇦

Lot of truth to that, though I hunt alone so none of it can be confirmed or denied lol. I get unnerved by big covey flushes. Still love it though.

Clark, my old GWP. He passed last spring. A wonderful hunting dog & companion. I still miss him.


We went about three months without a dog - and someone brought a "rescue" GWP to our attention. Oh my. My wife took one look and said "We're getting another dog aren't we?" Well yes, yes we did. He was a handful at first, but has come a long, long way. Maverick, like most GWP's is enthusiastic about EVERYTHING!

Both beautiful dogs. Good on you for picking up and taking a chance on a rescue.

Maverick, the brown dog, tried to eat me the first time we met... I was advised to not take him out in public without a muzzle on him.

He was pretty wild and crazy at first, but rewarded my efforts in the end. Now he's only a little wild & crazy, and usually at appropriate times.

I found some strays

Happen's every time. But this time I think I got the dog that will out live me. She just over a year and I'm 74. Bad part now is when I'm 85, she'll be 12 and I'm thinking it would be hard to find a home for that old a dog she'd be happy in after all her life with one guy. Now I find myself hoping she dies a couple days before me so I can bury her and nit have to worry about her. Then it would probably be my luck I'll live to 95 and be devastated when she died before me. There's just no winning with the death of a loved dog. I greatly miss a good many dog's today, some gone about 30 yrs or more!

Tears are never wasted on a dog. I wish you two many, many happy years together.

Dogs are such an important part of our lives. Can't imagine life without one.

As for getting older and worrying about our dogs..... arrange for a good friend to take over should things change for the worse. I have been involved a few times with finding a beloved pet a new home. They will adapt and accept their new owners.

I have seen rescues adapt to new environments too. Have one friend that only gets GWPs rescues. Sometgimes there are rough patches but they come around.

We adopted a pair of black labs ( both males, siblings) about seven years ago. Originally only agreed to take one, then we saw them together and there was no way we would be responsible for separating them. Max and Dingo (yeah I know, we didn't name them). "The Boys", as we came to refer to them, were very good labs and they'll always occupy a places in our hearts. They made it to 13 before it was time, very sad day, but they had a good life at our farm.
