Hello I might be able to acquire a 33 Winchester. How is finding ammo for such ? Thanks
Unaware of ammo sources, but I have three Win 1886 in that chambering & be interested in watching this Thread! In the meantime, in between time... Any interest about sharing info on your rifle? Bit cruel to make such inquiry without 'show & tell'! Don't you think? smile smile smile
Best & good luck re ammo! These were great rifles!
John
I've owned a couple of Winchester 1886 in .33 Winchester caliber, I reloaded for both. I bought dies from RCBS and formed cases from .45-70 brass. At the time in the late 70's Hornady made a flat point bullet especially for the .33, they've been discontinued for years. There are sources for .33 bullets just have to ask someone who currently loads for the round. From time to time components show up here on the 'Fire, a wanted ad in the classified section might bear fruit.
Shoot me a PM if your interested. I’m helping a friend liquidate some old ammo he has. He has 2 boxes of PETERS 33
I just joined this site and was going to post this in the classifieds.
Ok I will.

I don't own the gun yet.

If I get it bought I will try to share photos.
Back in 2002, I was up in Coeur d'Alene Idaho, and went into a sporting goods store, and on a table they had about 400 plus boxes of those old Hornady boxes of that FN 200 grain bullet Hornady made... got them brand new from Hornady when it was phased out...

They were starting to get dusty, so were marked down....I bought a $100 worth.... for $5.00 a box....20 boxes of them..

I use to use them in my 338/06, loaded to 33 Winchester speeds, with SR 4759...

shot a couple hundred of them.... the other boxes I have gifted to others who found an 1886 in 33 Win...

but been out of them since 2010 or so...

still have some 33 Win Brass somewhere around here tho.... someone gave me a couple hundred brass new pieces about the same time..
head stamped 33 Win, made by Winchester.. didn't know how old they were.. but had a die set and loaded up a hundred or so for some old retired handicapped military vet I met at the range... Vietnam Vet... just doing my bit to help out a fellow veteran.. no charge of course..
I got'em free so, so did he...
Your a very fine individual!!
Buffalo Arms Co. had ammo, It's out of stock. If you reload there dies and components out there.

I currently have a thread going on now about my 33 WCF '86 Winchester with pics of a deer I took with my rifle.
