My local gunshop has ONE box of original Winchester yellow box 348 Winchester ammo for sale. The ammo is on consignment at $45.00 (no sales tax in Montana).
The bullets are the 200 grain Silver-Tips and I inspected several of them and no tarnish or defects seen.
The box is in okay shape with some tatters but the ammo was sure clean - no water spots on the cardboard.
I am not at all sure what 348 ammo goes for (out of my area of interest these days) nowadays but I have seen a few "WTB" ads for 348 ammo here and on other sites.
The shop is closed Sundays and Mondays but will open Tuesday morning at 9:00 A.M. and their phone number is 406-683-9844
Hope this helps someone.

That is a good price before shipping!
Fair price for that ammo.
160user & Gunswizard: Thank you both for the opinion and input - I am headed to town this afternoon and may just pick them up if they are still there.
I am just triple miffed at "shipping" costs nowadays and it really takes the energy and enjoyment out of shopping on-line for me.
I sold someone on this forum a brick of 22 ammo two weeks ago and that small package and not much weight cost $28.70 to ship via UPS!
Highway robbery that, in my opinion.
Thanks again for the input.

Did you buy them?
Jsgwoodsman: No but I and another CampFirer were in the store when a thick gentleman walked in, saw them on the consignment table, said "oh schit" grabbed them up and bought them.
You snooze you loose.

I have some original Winchester-Western red, blue and gold " Grizzly boxes" in 348 WCF 250 gr Silvertips.
These are extremely rare. I still have a Model 71 Winchester. If interested in 348 WCF
PM at your convenience. They will not be near as reasonable as the OP -MT location.
450:

I’m still interested in most of what you have. Did you get that camera fired up yet?!
450Fuller: Pardon my slow reply been busy.
I hope you do sell your 348's but I am not in the market myself as of now.
I do have an extensive collection of original Winchester "Grizzly" box ammunition.
Including a mint perfect box of 348 ammo and a "nice" box of "Grizzly" 348 along with others in 257 Roberts, 300 Savage, 35 Remington (these are very rare/hard to find in Grizzly Boxes), 303 Savage (again extremely rare nowadays), 300 H&H Magnum and a pristine pair of Grizzly boxed of 375 H&H Magnum.
I started my Winchester boxed ammo collecting back in 1967 (54 years ago!) and very much enjoyed collecting and upgrading my collection of full minty Winchester ammo boxes.
I am guessing I have 65 minty boxes of older Winchester ammo in MANY calibers including the older red, blue and yellow boxes in 219 Zipper, 257 Roberts, 220 Swift, 22 Hornet, 32-40, 218 Bee, 7m/m Mauser plus many more in the common calibers.
But my "prize" box of Winchester ammo is a mint condition (both the box AND the ammo!) box of "Wimbledon Cup - Special Match" 30/06 ammo. The box is marked "180 grain KopperKlad bullets"- "for single loading only"!
And the red, blue and yellow box is also marked "For Use in Winchester Model 54's"!
So this box of ammo is nearing 100 years of age!
The box also depicts the loaded cartridge and shows the cartridge cases are depicted as "nickel plated"!
They are.
I have never seen another box of the Model 54 Wimbledon Cup - Special Match bullets!
The VarmintWife would have NO idea what these cartridges are worth so when I attain age 75 I promised myself to start selling these beautifully boxed munitions off.
Collecting old ammunition has been a worthy and profitable venture for me over the years.
