What a unique rifle! Yesterday I had a very rare opportunity to fire an original winchester 1886 in 40-65.(ser#3xx) Rifle was purchased at an estate sale. She shot dam good for her age! 5 shots at 25 yds with 250 grain lead RN bullets resulted in about a 2 inch group. I believe the 40-65 was obsolete in 1910? Really no recoil because rifle is not light(26 inch Oct barrel). I had to wonder if this very rifle had killed buffalo or humans!! I have a picture if anyone would like to post it. Just pm your phone # Ty.
