So I had been planning on attending an auction in Glendive for the last couple of weeks. The listing had 2 Browning 1895’s, one in 405 (missing for end). The other was a 270,

Much to my surprise there were four, a 270, 30-06 am two 405’s.

The 405 with missing wood came up first, I bid a couple of times and passed. Shortly the 270 came up. It started with several guys bidding and then just two of us, I won. I really didn’t want a 270, but I wanted an 1895. I figured I got it cheap enough, so WTH I’ll stay for the 30-06.

Again, the old guy and myself were bidding on the 405, I let him have it. Then the 30-06 came up, feverish bidding and I got that one also.

The 06 has the box but the 270 didn’t have a box. I believe both are new.

Congrats! (I woulda let the old guy have the .270 and went all in on the .405.)

Several years ago I walked into a gun shop in my area and they had a Winchester 1895 on the used gun rack chambered in 303 British. It had seen better days, but it had a cool factor to it. Dont remember the price
