Killed this buck on the opening day of VA general firearms season last Saturday the 19th. The rifle is my 1955 Model 70 Featherweight 30-06, the scope is a Burris Fullfield II. I was shooting just regular old 150 grain Winchester Power Points. Not a big buck but hunting is tough on National Forest.

Nice classic rifle!

Thanks gentlemen. Here's another picture of the rifle, I'm trying to get the hang of posting pics. I'd like to give a shout out to bsa1917hunter, he gave some really good advice on the scope and everything. This week I'm planning on hunting a farm here in the Valley with my 1950 Standard .270.

Sweet! If I could find and afford a pre war 70 in .257 Roberts I would scratch all of my Model 70 itches (maybe😉).

Awesome bucks and great rifles fellas!

This was my daughter last season with my 257 Roberts during the WI gun season. The gun was acquired with the stipulation it was to be hunted. My son and daughter have taken some nice deer with it over the years and hopefully for many more.

Nice rifle and buck. I hunt some of the same National forest in Virginia. Low deer population makes it tough

Congratulations on a nice buck with a classic rifle !

All of my big game have been taken with pre'64 Winchester rifles, my first whitetail in 1974 with a M/88 in .308 and my last two with a '52 vintage M/70 Featherweight in .30-06. In the intervening years I've used my '54 vintage Super Grade that I had rebored to .35 Whelen to take many whitetails. Nothing beats the thrill of taking a deer with a classic rifle.

To follow up, last Thursday evening I killed a doe on some friends farm with my 1950 Standard Model 70 .270 W.C.F. I had 8 minutes of legal shooting time left and had to hurry so no pictures of the rifle and deer. I have a Fullfield E1 3-9x40 on this rifle.

I took my 1960 Model 70 270 featherweight to camp but didn’t take it out since I was treestand hunting the entire time.

Bought a beautiful 270 from Clay (1911a1) years ago and she’s a deadly motor scooter. Here’s a couple she’s tagged;

1957, the year I was born. She’s picky. Loves TTSX’s, loathes Noslers and Sierra’s.
