After lots of reading, question asking, and research, I finally found one! Thanks for all of your patience and advice. Let me know what you all think… especially if I overlooked something. It’s a 1962 featherweight.

Cool, thanks for sharing. Looks pretty honest to me. Been carried quite a bit, shot a little. Someone cared for it though. Are you going to leave the Leupold compact scope on it?? A long action gets along much better with a longer tubed scope. A 3-9x40 is much easier to properly mount. However, If that scope works for you leave it as is. These old rifles are so cool. I was looking at my newest rifle (an old worn 270 fwt) earlier and even though the condition on that rifle is not as good as my others, it has sex appeal. They stand out in the crowd. Which is not a bad thing. Let us know how yours shoots and if you upgrade that scope. Thanks!

Congrats on THE classic bolt rifle, enjoy and use it often....I am sure it will treat you well.

Thank you for your assessment. I’ll be switching out the compact scope, and I agree, the 3x9 seems better suited. Do the sights and sling swivels look original or replaced? Those were things I always had a terrible eye for.

I’ll definitely have it out at the range in the next few weeks! The character of these old rifles makes them so much more than just a tool to shoot and hunt with. I hunt with a CZ 527, and I see it as just a tool. It’s a nice rifle, and maybe one day, my grandkids will look at it and say, “Man, if this thing could talk…”. This new M70 though!

Hard to tell on the sights and slings with the pictures.

From what I can see sights look correct but sling swivels are hard to see. If they are 1” and not detachable they are most likely correct.

Hard to tell but should the butt plate be curved??

It has a slight curve to it. My pictures are not very good in showing that. The fitment is tight and seems original.

Very nice rifle, wish my 1961 was in that condition!

Awesome! Nice looking rifle and I am sure it will be a heck of a game taker with style. Congratulations.

A P64 Featherweight is never a mistake in my book. Glad you found one you love.

Like HW said, zero it up and use the tar out of it. I bet you’ll like it.

Rsiros: Good for you on the acquisition of that nifty, safe, handsome and classy Rifle!
Be sure to let us know how it shoots.
If you are a handloader I have some great loads that I use in my pre-64 Model 70 30/06.
Again good for you - enjoy.
