It's summer, it's hot, I'm contemplating new builds.

I have an extra McMillan stock sitting here inletted for a post 64 W70, long action. I don't really need any more hunting rifles and I'm becoming adverse to heavy kicking rifles so I'm thinking something low recoil would be fun for range use. Bonus points, a short action cartridge I could load without concern to mag length.

I'd like to try a MRC action, however after contacting them it appears I can get a complete rifle for significantly less than a stripped action. That being the case, having a factory barrel shortened and rechambered becomes a possibility to initially save a few bucks on running a custom barrel.

Anyone running something along these lines? Thoughts on feed/eject functionality?

Long action M70 works great with a 257 Roberts. Meets your criteria of low recoil, perfect for deer and dispatches them with panache! wink
how about 243win, 6.5x55 swede, or a 358 winnie and shoot cast bullets.
