I recently traded for a Mod 70, .270, serial number G2176166. As nearly as I can figure, it was made around mid 90s. Is this an accurate assumption?

That appears to be too many digits for a Model 70 Classic mid-90's.

1996, G155000 - G200000

1999, G290000 - G320000
2000, G320000 - G345000
2001, G345000 - G365000

It's not a Classic, it's a push feed.

The seven digits is the push feed reference.

Classic's had their own unique serial number run through 2002.

In 2003, Classic's merged with the push feeds at about 2500000

Obviously a case of Classics on the brain.......or the only part of the brain that was in use.

I would think probably 1994; win70 can confirm.
